Mary Lou Retton In Houston, Estate of the Day
Perennially perky retired Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton has moved back to her hometown of Fairmont, West Virginia and is eager to sell her Houston home. The Wall Street Journal's Private Properties reports that she has cut the price of her 9,000-square-foot Houston home by 10 percent after three months on the market. The medal-winner-turned-motivational-speaker built the home in 2002 with her husband, real-estate investor Shannon Kelley. The six-bedroom, home is on two wooded acres in Houston's Memorial Villages area. It has indulgent outdoor space that includes a raised terrace, grotto pool, dining loggia with fireplace and a park-like backyard. The sprawling master bath has a sitting area and there is also a media room and children's playroom. The home is now listed at $4.7 million.

Nice home, but there are a hell of lot of dead animals hanging around. I can't remember the last time I saw some many in one EOTD house, even the ones in Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming or Montana.

Why are the books only on the bottom shelves? Nevermind, I figured it out.

Where is the six car garage? I guess that this house must be conveniently located on the bus line in which case a car is not necessary. That would explain the absence of a garage. Where is the full size swimming pool? If I am going to spend a few million I would expect a swimming pool and how about a kid's adventure playground too. I find this house more eerie than cozy. Where is the hot tub and sauna? Please tell me who designed this house so I can warn other people to avoid him.

beautiful, but dark inside. a little formulaic... two chairs and a table in between... over and over again.
i like to have a bench or ottoman near my tub to sit and put on lotion, etc., but those 2 big chairs in her bathrm? a little over the top.
overall, well done.
(i wasn't crazy about the dead animals either!)
