The Classicist: True Brit - Barbour's Best for Fall

Classic British outerwear company Barbour has come out with a brilliant collection for fall building on the brand's heritage while updating traditional designs and adding subtle new takes on sporting classics. Inspired by the best of British varsity wear and Barbour's own rich lineage - the firm, founded in 1894, holds Royal Warrants from HM Queen Elizabeth II, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, and HRH The Prince of Wales - there are new additions to each of Barbour's collections: Heritage, Contemporary, Classic, and Sporting.

Fall ushers in a bold, visually appealing and tactile re-interpretation of Barbour's authentic style. This season sees an expansion in new styles in the company's outerwear, knitwear and shirts ranges, as well as a brand new, full trouser collection with formal, casual and jeans options for both men and women. One standout is the Union Jack International motorcycle jacket (above left) with a super cool British flag lining. Key items feature Union Jack patches and Barbour badges as well, such as the Durelli International jacket with an integral waistcoat. • New Fabrics – Two new waterproof breathable fabrics are available in iconic international designs for both men and women; Durelli, a cotton carbon finish, creates a more distressed fashion-forward look, while the lightweight Carbon Finish utilizes a cotton and polyester mix to form a smooth, waxy finish that becomes more polished with wear. Additionally, the women's line now offers quilts in a mix of pure silk and polyester, creating soft and luxurious jackets.

• Tailored Collections – New smart, tailored jackets, waistcoats and skirts for ladies utilize exquisite British fabrics – cords, tweeds, herringbones and flannels – that satisfy both traditional expectations and contemporary desires. The men's line also offers a choice of tailored two-button and three-button classic styles to suit personal preferences for casual tweed jackets.

• Attention to Detail – Quilts appear in innovative new shapes including box, diamond and variegated designs. Many outerwear pieces also feature branded linings such as Barbour's Beacon icon, embroidered logo and brand-new Paisley - now available for the military-style Sapper Jacket - that was designed specifically for Barbour and offers a timelessly classic yet adaptable and versatile print throughout the range.

• Versatile Pieces – The introduction of multi-layered outerwear, such as the Durelli International Jacket with a removable, zip-in, reversible waistcoat and the ladies' Featherweight 3-in-1 International Jacket with a zip-in quilt gilet, offers versatile functionality.
