Maserati Releases New GranCabrio Ahead of Frankfurt Show

Italians can do little cars. They can do big GTs. They can do extremely fast supercars. But if you wanted a four-seat convertible to cruise around in what you'd think would be typical Italian style, you had to look elsewhere. Until now, that is, as Maserati has unveiled the first four-seat convertible in its history.
Called the GranCabrio, it's based on the gorgeous GranTurismo, only with the roof replaced by a retractable fabric contraption. The standard engine is the higher-end 4.7-liter V8 from the GranTurismo S, mated to a ZF six-speed automatic transmission. The longest wheelbase on the market should ensure that four passengers can cruise in comfort, and the GranCabrio is set to debut at the upcoming Frankfurt auto show next month.

Tall Scandinavians might worry about he back seat. Cars like these usually do not have really big back seats. Sad. But a nice car it is!

JUTHBACKA34, is there a luxury convertible that seats tall folks in the rear in comfort? There is the Bentley GTC, Rolls Drophead, Ferrari California, Mercedes CLK, and......????
The Grandcabrio's wheelbase (115 inches) is exceeded only by the Rolls (130 inches). So chances are that windy perch in the back will be more comfortable than the other luxury 'verts. :)

I will have to check that out when the car comes to Scandinavia. If two people can seat really good in the back, I will consider it for a summer car. If I find a wealthy wife first :D
The Bentley GTC, if you pull the drivers seat backwards a lot (tall people again), there is not much room in the back at all, this was tested on Brittish TV once. And the Ferrari California... is that not for two people only? Not sure, but a great looking car it is!
