Keyshawn Johnson's Big Home Improvement Bills

Former NFL player Keyshawn Johnson has become the latest sports player to end up in financial trouble. TMZ reports that a construction company, Gordon S. Gibson, Inc. has filed a lien on Johnson's Calabasas, California home. The company claims that he owes $1,115,500 for "supervision and construction of the Johnson residence." Johnson earned millions in the NFL and is now a sports broadcaster. The lien has been gaining 10 percent annual interest since January 14.

An LA Times article from 2007 gives a little insight into Johnson's keen interest in home decor and highlights his taste for designer high end finishes. The article is a namedropping festival rich with names like Eames, Philippe Starck and Armani Casa. For Johnson, according to the article, the ideal is to have a home offering the cool comfort of a W or Ian Schrager hotel. At that time Johnson was considering a post-football career as a "tastemaker" possibly with a boutique hotel or two of his own.
