$14 Million Rolls-Royce on Offer in Museum Sale Could Be World's Most Expensive Car

Back in May we reported that a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa had sold at auction for $12 million, setting a new world record and becoming the de facto most expensive car in the world. Now that record is quite possibly about to be shattered by a bespoke, one-of-a-kind 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II 40/50 HP Continental "All-Weather Convertible" custom made for an Indian Maharaja. The incredible car (above), known as the "Star of India", is being sold off by famed Rolls-Royce collector Hans-Günther Zach, who's liquidating his private museum dedicated to the marque in Germany. It's expected to fetch as much as €10 million or $14 million, beating the Ferrari by a wide margin. The Star is just one of classic and collectible 24 Rolls-Royces Zach is accepting bids for until Sept. 15th.

This automobile is certainly not attractive, or practical. It really is not worth 14 Million dollars. It would surprise me if anyone would pay that price today when there are so many other investments which would make greater returns on investment.

Well then you obviously dont know anything about cars. This RR is very beautiful and extremly rare (reason why it is $14 mill) Most people who buy these kind of cars are not thinking of them as investments, it is a private collection. Most private collectors never sell any of their vintage cars. The cars just get passed down through the family till one weak link gives in and sells it.

I'm about to lose my car because I cannot find a job in this economy and this guy is making 14 million out of his. The imbalance of wealth is staggering.. imagine all the people that could be helped with that sort of money. It is a beautiful car though.

The BRIGHT LIGHT is that there has never been a better time in Our Nation's History since WWII to survey and evaluate your own PERSONAL TALENTS and start your own one or two person business ( One Preferred ) . . . If you have the confidence and courage to approach people and ASK THEM FOR THEIR BUSINESS, . . That's half of the game. . . . The other half, of course, is to pick something which does not require LICENSING by ANYONE. . . In many counties in many States there is no requirement for licensing some types of businesses. . .YOU EARN THE MONEY - YOU KEEP IT ALL !

***Sign Painting/Cleaning/Bulb Replacement, etc.
***Window Cleaning
***Storefront Cleaning/Painting
***Gutter Cleaning
***Driveway Cleaning/Oil Removal/Re-color, etc.
***Tree Trimming/Removal, etc.
And there are hundreds more things which you can do that costs very little to nothing to get started at. . . . A Paintbrush and a Bucket or Can of Paint, . . A Good Low-Cost Steamcleaner, . . A Good Low-Cost Paint Sprayer / Chainsaw / Hand Saw / A Good Hammer / A Good Tool Kit, . . etc., etc.
Don't cheat anybody ! . . Price your TIME for what it's REALLY worth ! . . Don't Overprice nor Short Change YOURSELF. . .
"BE FAIR AND HONEST" . . DO GOOD WORK, . . .
AND EVERYBODY WINS !!! . . .

There are those, who have tooo much money, and time on their hands.... Who need to get a life.... or Christian experience, and be able to enjoy the real World. The one with all the beauty of the El naturalle, not the fabricated cold, metallic, and plastic visions, of the Satanic horde of demon culture... ie. The automobile, and Soda pop. not to mention the ghastly habit of the grossest nature, the bubble gum chewer,and the next vile item, is the boomer base,auto sound system, which bases into the structures along the way, and rattles the license plate on the offending vechicle... Humans, really now, are on the top of their game.... PS-2, X-BOX, and PS-3,4. Game boy, and the GPS, system, to keep Us on Track.

Car nut that I am, this Rolls would not be my first choice, at any price. Perhaps Cindarella would look good in this ride, as it appears to resemble a pumpkin on wheels. And I can think of a lot better ways to spend 14 Million dollars (if I had it) as opposed to spending it on a vehicle. I hope who ever ends up purchasing this Rolls will consider having it repainted as soon as possible. Navy blue, black, even Red. But the Big bird/pumpkin color is just awful.

Anyone in their right mind knows you never change any feature of a clasic car, otherwise it is just another custom piece of crap and not a vintage clasic. who ever buys this car will not change a single thing on it, im 100% sure of that. if they do, it defeats the purpose of buying it.

lol did someone say cash for clunkers what a farce that was and an illegal waste of government money. If they had stated that they would only give u a rebate toward vehicles from a United States owned company I would completely support it. I can't understand how anyone can buy a Japenese vehicle (and of course that includes Toyota DUHH!!!) and call themselves patriotic. Oh well our country as we know it is coming to a quick end and BHO is getting his new socialist government controlled society underway and we soon won't have any freedom or choices left anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok people you must realize that for someone who is a car lover/automobile enthusiast, they will pay almost any price depending on their assets/finances especially because it is a one of a kind and not many, if any, are around anymore. Although it does not seem realistic, the actual value of it will not matter to the person who purchases it, just the pure enjoyment.
