Williams River Retreat, Estate of the Day

Most of the homes I see in the Berkshires town of Great Barrington, Massachusetts are older elegant estates dating back from the area's long history as a summer retreat. This home however, is modern and freshly created. The home is on 120 acres stretching from a ridge to the Williams River. It is set on rock outcroppings and has views of the surrounding woods. A floating roof soars over a cool home of steel, wood and glass. Airiness is the buzzword with this one, it's got huge glass windows, open staircases and clerestory windows designed to let light flood the clean, bare space. The property includes many decks, a pergola, two-bedroom guesthouse and a twenty-five meter lap pool. It is listed at $8.5 million.

Its really an interesting modern home.
It is difficult to pull of the style without becoming cold and un-inviting. I would imagine the size of the property adds to the feelings of isolation that modernity already struggle with.

It looks like a nice house but it so hard to tell with the useless set of pictures. Why show me the sink and the stair treads...

what's the deal with putting a house in a scenic, somewhat isolated location, and then having hallway windows you can't see out of?
I originally thought that part might be underground, but looking at the door at the end of the hallway, it's doesn't seem to be underground.
I like the ideas of modern design ok, but sometimes you gotta reign in the stupid.
