Nicolas Cage's Bel Air Mansion Back On The Market

Settle in with a cup of coffee on your Saturday morning, we've got a picture-ific update to the endless saga that is Nicolas Cage's real estate listings. His home on Copa de Oro Road in Bel Air, California has been on and off and back on the market several times. But as the Real Estalker says, he looks serious this time, cutting his price down to $17.5 million, neatly half of what he was asking back in September 2007 but still healthily above the $6.469 million he paid in 1998. The new listing has a gorgeous tour from Westside Estate Agency.
The pics reveal a lot more than we have seen of the house before. I've always known that Nicolas Cage is a bit of a collector but this house showcases the many things that he has amassed over the years. The framed comic books and even the giant Mickey Mouse in the casual dining room were no surprise but the huge amethyst geode was a bit of a shocker. Over at the Real Estalker Mama's place there's been quite a discussion over the decor. It's a crazy pastiche of objects, Cage is a collector who has never had to restrain himself with thoughts of budget. Rather than restricting himself to theme rooms, he has combined different styles and time periods in a way that seems more Charles Foster Kane than middle-aged movie star. The resulting spectacle is far from being a cozy domicile but it is definitely worth a look.

Yipes. Talk about tacky. Cage is man in desperate need of a decorator. No wonder he wants to sell it. You'd have to pay ME to live there. The only thing he hasn't managed to ruin is the outside. And even there he manage to paint some of the cast iron grating purple. Seriously... are you "trying" to lower the value of the home?

Hope the ivy on the facade of his house has less ants in it than mine did!

You may criticize it all you like. I'll take the keys and move right in with the furnishings included. The home is magnificent. There isn't much of the furniture that I'd change as a matter of fact. The other decorations can be easily changed to suit one's own taste. The burl wood chairs in the piano area and in the living room are really beautiful works of art on their own. The craftsmanship involved in the woodwork trim and ceilings is incredible. It's quite easy to be a critic with negative comments. Obvious of a lack of any taste at all in my humble opinion.

beautiful glass and interior paneling. Grounds are lovely as well. Would live there anyday...

Of all of the 20 on here, Cage's house is the only one I thought was worth the multi-million dollar asking price. A really beautiful home...and those ceilings!
I am kind of surprised that these millionaire entertainers, sports figures and businessmen like Murdoch don't seem to appreciate the benefit of good home staging. Somebody needs to HELP Burt Reynolds YESTERDAY lollol..
Clutter is clutter, even when it's expensive clutter..most of these homes (Somer's sticks out on this point!) are beautiful, but the rooms look pitifully small for their price range because there's so much "stuff" everywhere! And Suzanne, honey, the zebra pelts gotta Go! ;)

How about you submit some example pictures of how well your home looks so we can critique your expert design skills.

OH, Franny honey, what makes you such an expert on design or another's personal taste. You critics are just too much with your shallow opinions.

It doesn't take a B.A. in interior design to know that zebra pelts were rightfully left behind by most people in the 1970's.
As for my home, while it's nowhere near being worth even 1.0 million, I get compliments from friends that it looks nice! Living without clutter doesn't cost hundreds of dollars.
Lighten up, ThisWay.
