Aspen Home Sells For $43 Million, Sets 2009 Record
We keep hearing about how bad the real estate market is and chronicling the many price drops but recently a home sold for $43 million and it wasn't even on the market. The ten-bedroom mansion in Aspen, Colorado is on 4.5 acres at the base of Red Mountain and sold through Joshua &Co. The 21,400-square-foot home has become what brokers say is the most expensive home that has sold in the U.S. so far this year. The Wall Street Journal shows the home which was designed by Charles Cunniffe Architects. There are a host of pictures of the home on the Cunniffe website (the kitchen is particularly worthy of note). The wood, glass and stone home on 4.5 acres was built in 2006. It has an outdoor pool, guest house and a four-car garage. Inside the home, windows frame mountain views from the living areas and private spaces. It has an elevator, wine cellar, home theater and 10 bedrooms.
Newton Bartley, a real estate agent with Joshua & Co. referred to the sale as a "straight, cash deal." The Aspen Times says that the buyer, who has not been named, became interested in the home at the end of the last ski season. Several Aspen homes on the market are priced higher than this one including Elk Song Ranch which is listed at $58 million and is shown below.

Wyoman.... we need to look out....we may live there now! I don't see
any difference in Obama's thoughts and those of Karl Marx. Hugo Pelosi there
is a close second....

Well now I'll tell ya about a real deal. I will sell my not listed cat ranch here in Kalamazoo Michigan. It has two bedrooms and one bath and a nice yard that will keep two of your cats real happy for years. And I will let it go for only 23 million bucks cash. And, I will clear outta here in 24 hours. Great deal eh? You can run thru and clean it in about an hour and dont need staff or anything. Just remember, 23 million bucks cash and I split quick. :-)

Most complaints about this real estate issue are losing sight of what really matters. In truth, money does not bring you happiness. I've seen it over and over in my life. Happiness does not come from your pocket. It comes from your values and what is truly important. You can live in a tent and behappy and you can live in a mansion and be miserable. America is a great country because we have choices. Teach your children what is truly important about their lives, (service, helping others, being faithful, honest ) and to make an honest living. There is nothing richer than a life full of good values. Forget the mansion. It does not register in the list of what makes people happy. Obama is a good example. He knows the whole gamit and lets hope he does not get jaded by the luxury that surrounds our president. HE is with the common man and I like that. Pat

Money does not buy happiness. Once you learn that motto you will be much happier. True honest values are the marks of a happy person.....not the house they live in or their salary. Most important life lesson anyone can learn. Don't be tempted to believe that anyone making the big bucks is happier than you are. It is important to be comfortable and own your home and go into a profession that you know you are good at, and love, but it does not have to make you a millionaire, unless you want that and can handle it. America is a great country because we all have choices. We make them on a daily basis. Look around you....and read the news. Stay up to date on life and what is important. I am as happy as anyone in this world and my income is low middle class probably. Do you need 30 rooms in your home ? Of course not. ...and God Bless America. Pat
