Newcastle Brown Ale's New DraughtKeg
Beginning next month one of our favorite beers, Newcastle Brown Ale founded in 1927 in the Northeast of England, will launch its new portable DraughtKeg in select markets initially including Southern California, Minneapolis and Chicago. Featuring the same technology originally created by Heineken, the Newcastle DraughtKeg is a pressurized recyclable mini-keg that serves up to 10 pints (5 liters) of Newcastle draught beer for the ultimate at-home pub experience. The suggested retail price is $22.99.
The DraughtKeg's pressurized draught system utilizes a patented internal CO2 mechanism with a mini tap which helps keep the beer fresh for up to 30 days. It's also compatible with the Krups BeerTender, which chills the DraughtKeg and maintains its ideal temperature.

Hooray! My favorite beer ... on tap, at home!

Yes, but this is about the equivalent of a 12 pack, which cost about $16. Drop the price, and I'm in, but at these prices, I'll stick to the bottles (which are easier to store anyway).

I hear you, but having tried this it really does replicate the "draught" experience in a way that bottles don't. Either that's worth a bit extra to you or not.

What! A 12 pack for $16.00? Not here in Chicago, more like 18 to 20, but the keg seems like a bargain at 23. It's just where do I put it?

If you guys like Newcastle Brown ale, perhaps you should try Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout! If you haven't already.

I just picked up the Krups Beertender - it's pretty cool. The problem is now I'm stuck drinking Heineken (poor me, huh?? lol!) Seriously though I sure hope Newcastle gets their draught kegs to Seattle very soon (yesterday would be good!), and other yummy beers start coming in draught kegs too.
The draught kegs are more expensive ($23 for equivalent of 14 bottles), but all I have to do is pour a glass to be reminded it's well worth it.

Yeah..BRING THESE TO SEATTLE. ASAP. I herd a humor QFC stocked them but I cant find them anywhere (Not even in Newcastle, WA).
I love Heineken out of my Beertender but Newcastle would make me a very very very very happy man!
Cheers
