Michael Jackson Concert Promoter Could Be Out Millions
With the shocking news of Michael Jackson's death many are talking about his planned shows this summer. Jackson has planned to play a series of concerts at England's O2 Arena. The London Times reports that AEG Live, the company behind the concerts, could be facing a liability of up to £300 million and may scramble to find acts to replace the iconic star's performance slots.Jackson was getting ready for the concerts at the time of his death and an eager public snapped up tickets. At first he was supposed to do 10 concerts but later was signed up for 50 shows. There was some concern over whether or not all those shows would be too much for him. The Times article says that AEG Live had said that it was prepared to "self-insure" the shows.
Jackson's concerts were set to begin on July 13, and elaborate crystal-studded concert costumes had been prepared for the star. The Michael Jackson Live website which contained information on the concert is still online and had not been updated the last time I checked. AEG Live will have to refund the tickets as will Ticketmaster, which also sold Jackson tickets and has a policy to refund the face value of the ticket, plus the booking fee.

I find it appalling posting this about people losing money, good grief, the man JUST died.I am not a big Jackson fan but alot of people are, show some respect.Coming from you D.W. I'm not surprised.

Liberals caused the death of millions in Vietnam & North Korea, not to mention the death of 3rd trimester babies in America. I find it extremely appalling Americans in general are wasting so much time and energy mourning the death of Michael Jackson, even though he was this talented.
Double standard hipocrits like you would not have posted the same message about mother Terresa if her death was causing people to lose money.

Justin this has nothing to do with all the things you mentioned. And people are not wasting their time mourning someone they care about. And I would have posted same comment if it was Mother Teresa.I just found it disrespectful talking about losing money the day after someone dies when alot of people, family, fans and friends lost him.I think a life and feelings are worth more than money lost.
Jockjo Jun 26th 2009 3:45AM
I don't think it is appaling. Yeah everyone is gutted. Really feel for his kids and family but at the end of the day we a'int all rich and if I'm not going to see him naturally I want my money back. It's something people wil be looking into. It's only natural. The concert was a lot of money.

Whatseven more Appauling is that idiots like yourself jump at any chance like this to have a go at Americans.

The man had no respect from people who believe everything they read in the media in life, at least hive him that in death

Jocko: I guess you get the last laugh, 1/2 Bil in your pockett that you did nothing for. Still you are a piker and rank amateur compared to Bernie Madoff as far as being a rip off artist goes. I guess the promoters were sucked in by the thinking that if someone owes you 10 mil they are a debtor. If they owe you 500 mil they are a partner. Condolences to the family.

This tragedy is totally about money. His father pushed the Jcksons to be the bread winners. I am sure they all suffer from it. Michael being the youngest lost his childhood. he tried to recreate it with Neverland, etc. He is niow done with his inner demons and will be at peace,

America wake up. Its time to understand that misfortunes do occur. It is more important for the newsmedia to address our national problems and Americans you are loosing so much in our state of govenment affairs that it is not even a second page article. Yes, we are losing our country and nobody cares, Michael is more important than our deep rooted problems. Please open your eyes to more important and urgent issues that face us. Please read Cultural mrxism by Linda Kimball and get a picture of what is really urgent news. I pray our country should be on a path of righ and not the path of luxury. Read the "Fall of the Roman Empire" and you will get todays picture of what is happening here. God be with you whom do not understand.

Have all tickets returned to promoter that weren't sold and printed electronically, the standard box office ones sent in the snail mail. Refund everyone that wants it. Sell the original tickets that come back on auction sites, like it or not, they are now collectibles. Many of his fans will not want to give up their tickets. I had always hoped Michael would write one more big song. One so great that even the derisive cacophony on the internet would momentarily stop. For one short moment all would be forgiven and forgotten and we could sing and dance together once more to the same great beat. You made the world a dance floor, Michael. Thank You.

Please Please Please, if anyone from AEG is reading this, LET THE CONCERT go ahead!!! It would be a great way for us all to celebrate the King of pop's amazing life and music, I know for a fact that many of us (his fans) would much prefer to go and enjoy and celebrate with all his fans from around the world. All the hard work and planning has been done, Michael's final creative touches have been put into this production which Im sure was set to be bigger and better and boundary pushing, so why cant it go ahead. THIS WOULD BE A FITTING END TO AN INCREDIBLE LIFE, one that has touched all, "This is it" he said..............R.I.P

Come on people, He just passed away... The concert should go on as a rememberance for the King Of Pop and the money should go for his children...
starla.yarbrough Jun 30th 2009 12:11AM
I agree, Let him rest in peace and let the show go on. It should be a rememberance for his life with singers singing to him and for him. The money should go towards his debt and his children. Come on people have a heart!
