Sunday Real Estate Round-Up, 06/07/09


From Cityfile's Buyers & Sellers:
Real estate magnate Murray Goodman has dropped the price of his duplex at 960 Fifth Avenue, shown above, for the second time since listing it for $32.5 million in January. He bought the home for $1.41 million back in 1981. It is now listed at $27.6 million.
--via The Real Deal, Real estate heiress Denise LeFrak sold a two-bedroom condo at 255 East 74th Street to attorney Daniel Brockett for $2.14 million.
--via The Real Deal, cardboard mogul Dennis Mehiel and his wife Karen have re-listed their duplex at the Carhart Mansion at 3 East 95th Street, which they put up for sale for $35 million last August and took off the market in October. It is now listed for $34.9 million.
--via the NY Times, Joan Raines has gone into contract to sell her townhouse, Barclay Mansion, at 5 East 78th Street, which went on the market for $21 million in March but dropped to $18.5 million a month later. The seven-bedroom home is expected to be selling for below the asking price.
--Calypso founder Christiane Celle and her husband, Antoine Verglas, have lowered the price of their Lafayette Street penthouse. The apartment went on the market for $13.99 million in January and was reduced to $11.99 million in March and is now listed for $10.65 million.
--via The Real Deal, retired tech exec Lawrence Mueller and his wife Mary Kay have put their 25th floor condo at 15 CPW on the market for $16.5 million. They bought the home in 2007 for $5.99 million. The listing is here.
--Archibald "Archie" Cox, Jr., the former CEO of Morgan Stanley International has paid $12 million for a 49th floor apartment at One Beacon Court. It had most recently been listed for $14.4 million.
Russian communications mogul Timur Artemiev, who co-founded the country's largest mobile phone retailer, has picked up a New York condo at the Chelsea Stratus for $1.39 million.
--via the NY Post, Edgar Bronfman Jr. and wife Clarissa have moved to London. They picked up a home in Kensington and plan to relocate with their four kids by the end of the summer, dividing time between London and NYC.
--Marc Juris, the executive vice president and general manager of truTV, has sold his former apartment at 10 West 66th Street for $1.6 million.
--Robert J. Katz, Goldman Sachs's former general counsel, has paid $7.525 million for a three-bedroom, apartment at 860 Fifth Avenue.
--Frank Cassou, the general counsel and executive VP of NextWave Wireless, has gone into contract to sell his 18-foot-wide townhouse at 57 East 78th Street. He and his wife Gabrielle bought the home for $5.45 million in 2003 and it has been on the market for $15 million since February.
--A 2,890-square-foot penthouse at 285 Lafayette Street has had a $2 million price chop. It is listed at $10 million.

--Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan has sold his three-bedroom, 1,920-square-foot loft at 99 Jane Street for $4 million. He and his wife, Jennifer, closed earlier this year on a $5,956,250 penthouse at Battery Park City's condo Riverhouse.

--I'm really beginning to feel badly for former Mets infielder Edgardo Alfonzo who has been trying to sell his house in Little Neck, NY . The five-bedroom, Mediterranean-style mansion, which was originally listed for $8 million in 2006, is now just $3.8 million. It was at $5.1 million when it was our estate of the day.
--The Atwater Estate in Westhampton Beach, New York has had a price cut of $10 million down to $29 million. The listing is here.
--The 2006 Hampton Designer Showhouse is back on the market, now for an asking price of $16.9 million. The listing is here.
Alan Mnuchin, a former Bear and Lehman banker, founder of AGM Partners, son of Bob Mnuchin, and brother of IndyMac CEO Steve Mnuchin has put the six-bedroom home he shares with wife Kimberly in East Hampton for sale for $17.5 million. The listing is here.

--Singer Kenny Chesney has sold his home in Malibu, California for $8.5 million after it had been listed last year for $7.95 million.
--Former U.S. Secretary of State Warren Christopher has sold his home in Beverly Hills for $2.15 million to a movie executive producer named Fernando Szew.

--Rosehearty, the Centre Island, New York home of Rupert and Wendi Murdoch is back on the market for $12.8 million. They were reportedly renting to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, for more than $100,000 a month. This home was listed at $14.8 million in 2007 when we checked it out as an estate of the day.

-- Iris Cantor, the major philanthropist and art-collecting widow of Cantor Fitzgerald founder Bernie Cantor, has just closed on a turn-of-the-century townhouse at 11 E. 74th St. for $18.125 million (the one which nearly went up for auction recently). Cantor is still trying to sell her four-bedroom penthouse at 110 Central Park South for $11.9 million as well as her $53 million mansion in Bel Air which was our estate of the day last week.
--A new-construction, six-story townhouse at 400 West St. just went on the market for $25 million. The listing is here.
--Rumor has it that ex-Lehman Brothers CEO Dick Fuld may sells his 640 Park Ave. apartment for an offer in the $27 million range.
--A townhouse at 158 E. 61st St. is getting a price reduction. The newly renovated six-story home originally listed last May for $14.995 million and is now listed at $11.5 million. The listing is here.

--Nicole Richie and her Joel Madden have paid $1.9 million for a newly renovated home in the Hollywood Hills.
--Real-estate developer and contemporary-art collector Aby Rosen has reduced the price on a New York City townhouse we'll look at this one as an estate of the day later in the week.
--Dan Marino has reduced the price on his Florida home. It was our estate of the day on Saturday.

--Actor Tate Donovan has listed his two-bedroom bungalow in Los Angeles for $789,000.
--Randolph Duke has dropped the price on his Hollywood Hills home, we'll check this one out later as an estate of the day.
--Britney Spears has reduced the price on her Beverly Hills home.
--Flea has put his Malibu home on the market.
--Joan Rivers has put her penthouse on the market for $25 million.

From the LA Times Hot Property:
--Actor Connor Trinneer, the commander on the TV prequel " Star Trek: Enterprise," and his wife, Ariana, have sold their Franklin Village Craftsman for $1.1 million.

--Bill Gates has reportedly purchased Irma Lake Lodge in Wyoming, a 492-acre ranch that once belonged to Western legend "Buffalo Bill" Cody, for $9 million.
--Victoria Gotti and her family will be staying in their Old Westbury, New York home a bit longer. Newsday says that the reality TV star, gossip columnist and mob princess is working in a deal with the government that will keep the home from foreclosure.
--Mel Gibson has dropped the price on his Connecticut home yet again, it's now down to $29.5 million.
