Multi-Million Dollar Home Up For Auction In Cherry Hills Village
Another big multimillion estate is up for auction, this one near Denver, Colorado in Cherry Hills Village. The press release describes the home as a $10 million Cherry Hills Village estate but it was appears to have been up for sale for $6.5 million until recently. The home is on approximately 2.5 acres and has over 14,000 square feet of space and an 11-car garage. The mansion has eight bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen, grand family room, formal dining room and a 4,000-square-foot recreation area including a walk-in wine cellar for entertaining. Cherry Hills Village is a rich enclave featuring many lavish homes and the Cherry Hills Country Club. The online auction event will begin with a starting bid of $3.9 million and a bid deadline of May 7, 2009.

We tried to view the photos of the house but most were ruined by a constant barrage of Ford pop-up commercials. Whata waste.

Only in the developers dreams would that house be worth $10 million. Even $3.9 is a stretch.

Setting a good price point for this house is a daunting task. The back yard is "nothing special" and the location, though close to the DTC (business center), is not the best because of its proximity to a busy street. On a side note, I noticed while living in that area that people generally don't care what's around them. Huge spec homes were built within 100 feet of major roads and marketed as "exquisite estates". Bottom line is that it's not a good deal, by any means...
Ironically, the house next door to this one is much larger, and is also on the market, but for just under $13m. We'll check back for that auction in about a year... :-)

Just to clarify...
I don't think it exudes luxury, so therefore I don't think there's anything special about the house. I'm not a fan of the dysfunctional garage layout and the variations in design. Some rooms are nice, others are plain and weirdly coordinated (see image 29 in the gallery).
