Glass River House, Estate of the Day

This striking glass house in the town of Cornwall-on-the-Hudson in New York was designed by Barbara Corwin and inspired by the Pompidou Center in Paris. The steel and glass home has views of the Hudson RIver and the surrounding forests. The home is constructed of special R-16 coated glass & 40' steel beams. Tennessee marble, French limestone, wide plank quarter sawn white oak floors, Anigre wood (from Ivory Coast) custom cabinetry, stainless steel mantels and railings add to the distinctive feel of the home. Part of the sense of airiness comes from the floating spiral stairs, accented glass floors and etched glass wall panels. The three-bedroom home includes a media room, with a concealed minibar and sliding doors to a private deck with panoramic views. A second catering kitchen is located in the heated garage and a large observation deck offers a place to entertain or take in the views. This distinctive home
