Tiffany & Co. Heads To Amsterdam
Jewelry store Tiffany & Co. is planning to open its first store in Amsterdam this fall. The new store will be approximately 2,100 square feet and located in a historic building on PC Hooftstraat, the Dutch city's main shopping street. Tiffany's architects and designers have pledged to preserve the building's original façade while giving it the Tiffany treatment on the inside with brushed stainless steel, custom furnishings and of course plenty of robin's egg blue boxes and diamonds.Melvyn Kirtley, Group Vice President, Tiffany & Co. Europe says that opening the first Tiffany store in Amsterdam is a strong vote of confidence for Tiffany's growth potential in Europe. In the U.S., Tiffany recently announced plans to close its pearls-only store chain, Iridesse.

Although the PC Hooftstraat is a well known shopping street in Amsterdam, it certainly is not the the 'main shopping' street. The length of street doesn't exceed more than 2-3 blocks and consists of mainly (if not only) luxury shops, such as Bulgari, Hermes and LV.
You could kind of compare it to a much much much shorter version of Madison Av, Bond Street or Via Condotti...
So yeah, the perfect place for Tiffany & Co.
Just my 2 cents :)

Meanwhile, they laid off hundreds of U.S. employees during the first 4 days of their fiscal year. No mention of it appeared anywhere in the press. More underhanded business with a publicly traded company. Their jewelry is overpriced, passé, and gauche. The only people who take their silver trinkets seriously are teenagers and those who still think Tiffany is a "luxury" company, despite the fact that most of their sterling is made of pre-fab parts bought for pennies from vendors.
