Lagerfeld Debuts Mink-Covered iPod Helmets
At his Paris fashion show on Sunday, the ever-entertaining Karl Lagerfeld debuted a new line of luxurious mink-covered scooter helmets with built-in iPod capability. The over-the-top accessories were created in collaboration with French luxury helmet maker Les Ateliers Ruby and Apple. They're road legal and feature full carbon fiber shells and ultra-soft burgundy nappa lambskin linings. The iPod hookup lets you pipe music directly to the earpieces.
Lagerfeld, who also heads up Chanel and Fendi, showed matching mink vests and other garments in the futuristic fashion show for his eponymous label. Apparently the haute helmets are Lagerfeld's comment on the recessed economy. "Now everyone is on scooters, even chic women, so we had to do the helmet," he explained. No word yet on when the helmets might be made available for sale or what their price would be, but safe to say they'll be extremely expensive.

Fur???
My calendar says 2009.
He should be ashamed of himself STILL pushing fur down the runway and any nit wit that considers buying fur at this point should be as well. Someday we may evolve to the point where wearing fur ceases being “fashionable” and universally seen as the shameful and reprehensible behavior that it is.

Fur still is very attractive (if you see someone wearing a fur coat, wouldn't you turn your head?). The only problem with fur today is although it may look great and turn heads, most people would consider the wearer an immoral person.

No, William. I'm going to have to differ with you. The only people that would consider fur immoral would be the usual eco-terrorist at PETA.
People have been wearing fur for tens of thousands of years now. And, I see no problem with this as long as it doesn't come from an endangered species and the animal is killed as quickly and humanely as possible.
Some PETA member will probably jump on here next and post a link to some inhumane practices that have gone on in China's fur industry. However, not every fur supplier sources their products from China.

If you truly believe that the only people that would consider fur immoral would be the usual "eco-terrorist at PETA" I think you would you would be sadly mistaken.
Using the argument that "people have been wearing fur for tens of thousands of years now" is the same "logic" that would suggest that “African-Americans have ridden in the backs of busses for years... We need to make the savages Christians for their own good… There is no such thing as man’s impact on the global climate…” Can’t the world’s thinking evolve?
And I hope that other PETA members (and I am proud to be one!) do “jump on” in an attempt to point out the inhumane practices of the "fur industry" and not just those in China. Death for vanity is still death for no reason. It makes no difference where it is sourced from.
Cruelty and death thankfully no longer equal style. Get with the times my friend.

PETA has got to be one of the worst organizations ever. If I was stuck in an elevator with the head of phillip morris or PETA I wouldnt know who to punch first!
Your whole "movement" is just full of hypocrisy.
Do you wear leather?
Do you eat meat?
Last time I checked, meat usually came wrapped in fur/skin.
And by your whole argument of NOT keeping with tradition how about we change round wheels to square ones and walk on our hands instead of our feet??
Unnecessary cruelty is wrong, but outlawing fur just for the sake of it just gives environmentalism a bad name.
I say this as an environmentalist btw.
Oh and fur is really just for fashion these days anyways, and the whole fashion industry is based on looks not function, so why not ban bright hot pink because thats a whole other kind of cruelty.
