Abramovich's Girlfriend Takes Over Luxury Fashion Mag

Dasha Zhukova, the stunning 27-year-old girlfriend of Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, has been named the new editor-in-chief of hip British luxury fashion mag POP. Zhukova is the co-founder of the fashion label Kova & T, as well as the Garage Centre for Contemporary Culture, Moscow's largest private art gallery. Despite an utter lack of magazine experience, she'll be working in partnership with POP editorial director Ashley Heath, leading some to snipe that she only got the job thanks to her mega-rich boyfriend.
"I am tremendously excited to take on this challenge," Zhukova, pictured above at right with Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova, tells the London Telegraph. "I feel it's the perfect time to be showcasing and encouraging new energy and talent. We are working hard on a complete revamp of the magazine in order to provide a broader point of view focusing also on art, contemporary culture and the globalization of all things pop-related." The magazine is being relaunched on the 1st of September.

What's hilarious about the linked-to snarky article is the implicit assumption that there's a whole lot of skill and training required to run a fashion magazine.
Of course she got the job because of her rich boyfriend! Why shouldn't billionaires' girlfriends get the chance to run fashion magazines into the ground? In fact, I'm a little disappointed that she doesn't have fewer qualifications. Starting Kova & T probably counts for something. I'd prefer it if she was a complete and utter unknown in the fashion world.
Something about this puts me in mind of Shakespeare's "Henry V".

What is the problem. Do what rest of media is doing.
Obama is the next God and King of the USA.
Blame all problems on Bush.
DEE Mar 10th 2009 6:19PM
Yes, dump everything in Dub-yah's lap, RIGHT WHERE IT BELONGS!! This economic mess didn't just happen overnight you idiot! Do you really think President Obama is saying "Gee, Bush didn't F**k things up enough, let me see if I can do worse."?? NO!! Leave the man alone and let him do his job!

Its like the old joke of 3 women who applied for a job. One with a high degree, one with higher intelligence and one with years of experience. The job went to another girl who had a high school diploma, no experience, but the biggest tits.
JEAN Mar 9th 2009 10:34PM
The fact that this woman has no experience and no knowledge of anything pertaining to this job, is nothing new to what the USA is currently experiencing with their new political administration. None of them know how to get in out of the rain.
At least the owner of this magazine is a billionaire who has the funds to carry this out, the USA has to borrow money from other nations to do all this goofy president proposes to do. Fact is, this president is a total idiot , trained in nothing , but how to do people in. Folks, America is paying a huge price for this current president to have his photo ops , and run the nation into the ground. Remember this nation in your prayers , as you pray for all other nations. We are in dire or desperate need of leadership in this country. Someone please help us.

Bush put us into this deep depression. He will burn in hell, so all you idiots who idolize him, you will join him there, keep warm, idiots. Now that we have gotten that issue out of the way, that has nothing to do with the story..........who cares who runs that magazine, not I............

Obama should hire her as Sec of Treasury
tove Mar 10th 2009 1:16AM
Sure she's woefully and embarrassingly unqualified. But she's actually pretty and she is young. Sorry, take away his make-up and dyed hair (please) and this is nothing like Obama. In real life that resumeless wonder who plays a tween on t.v. is really a terrible looking has-been pushing fifty. Wait til his voters find out.
Bill Mar 10th 2009 2:21AM
This article has nothing to do with Bush or Obama but since people like to make things political here's my take on both idiots. I despised Bush for what he has done, and at the very least he should be locked-up and the key destroyed. However, I do agree entirely with Jean about the new idiot. Bush was an idiot with no language skill, Obama the next idiot is a brilliant orator and this makes he so much more dangerous than idiot Bush could ever be (and we know dangerous idiot Bush was). Idiot Bush put this country into a very big big hole, but idiot Obama is determined to out do idiot Bush and put us into an even bigger hole. You can fool all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time. I hope the good people of this great country of ours come to their senses before more harm is done to our country. Unlike Jean's plea for help, I believe the good people of this country will come to their senses before it is too late. I have faith in the American people.
Bill520 Mar 10th 2009 8:01PM
Ok Bush was an idiot, but if you think the democrats including Obama did not have a very big, big, big, big hand in the prolems of this country your a bigger idiot.

It's his money, he got rich by making good decissions. He will still have experienced people making things work. She will lead them in new directions. Youth and beauty in fashon are the keys. A 60 year old trying to tell what an 18 year old is interested in is at disadvantage
Croppy Cait Mar 10th 2009 8:19AM
I suppose it's better for her to run a magazine then for her to run her mouth.
