Lily Allen So Broke She Has to Sell Her BMW

Provocative British pop star Lily Allen is so flat broke she's had to sell her BMW - and the banks won't lend her any more money. Despite having sold millions of records, the star is in such dire financial straits she decided to get rid of her 3-series convertible. "I've been hit big time by the credit crunch," she tells the London Daily Mirror. "Actually, I just had to sell my car because I'm so broke. I bought the car last year and that was probably my biggest extravagance. Clothes too, I'm always buying clothes."

Chanel and YSL are her favorite labels, and Allen is often spotted in the front row of fashion shows, palling around with the likes of Kate Moss, Kanye West and Karl Lagerfeld. "I'm completely skint," Allen says. "I can't even spend on credit cards. I mean, I won't be, as I'm waiting until I get the royalties from the album and all the radio plays but that takes about a year. The banks will usually front your money in that kind of situation but they are not lending at the moment so it's a tricky time."

yeah a 3 series broke the bank....lol. Come on there is more to it than a 3 series and a bit of clothing. Probably some nose candy to go with it. There is no way that you can blow through all the money she made without some good drugs. She didn't even get a 5 series. I have friends with 3 series and I owned one. They are not exactly untouchable and me and my friends hold average jobs. She clearly has no control over her budget at all.

Who could have any empathy or sympathy for anyone who has made so much, and then misspent and mismanaged it so poorly. The question is whether she will learn anythng from all of this? The only value of this article is as a lesson for others.

I have faintly heard of her I would not call her a star, but if she sold millions of albums then she must have made alot of money, her problem is a big head she sould have watched her money. There are a lot of one hit wonders dating back to the 50's who didn't go hog wild watched there money and never had to work again, I wold say another of her problems is she just plan stupid.

there is no excuse for the banks to be stingy here since she has obvious guaranteed royalties to pay the balance. It's (credit loan) not based upon real estate values crashing down as in this current mortgage loan crisis. Banks should not be allowed to be extremely tight on extending credit to persons clearly having enough liquidity $$$$$$ to guarantee payment down the road a bit. They (lending banks) are using the massive defaults from clearly high risk lenders who never should have been given the loan in the first instance to put an unreasonable credit squeeze on borrowers where the long term risk is minimal. This should not be allowed no matter what the current climate is for restricting high risk lending.
