Sparkle Week Seeks To Bring Business To NYC Jewelers

jewelry display
You've likely heard of restaurant week, a week of specials and events designed to get people eating out for the week. The beleagured jewelry industry is getting its own week-long boost in the form of "Sparkle Week Spring 2009" in New York City. The event has been created by the National Jewelry Institute and will run from April 20-26. New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg will issue the official proclamation on April 6. Events will include promotions and festivities at stores throughout New York City's five boroughs. The week's timing is positioned to generate sales around Mother's Day as well as upcoming graduations and weddings. Restaurant weeks often inspire people to dine out but will a jewelry week be enough of a draw to coax people back into jewelry stores?
