Magnolia Mansion, Estate of the Day

The Magnolia Mansion is a Greek Revival masterpiece built in 1857 in New Orleans and is now a bed and breakfast and popular spot for weddings. The mansion is located one block from the St. Charles Streetcar, and within minutes of the French Quarter. It is historically known as the Harris Maginnis Mansion and has a long history that includes serving as the headquarters of the American Red Cross during World War II. The classic antebellum home has 13 guest rooms each with a private bath as well as formal common areas decorated in an exaggerated Southern style that includes red walls, velvet draperies and crystal chandeliers. The Magnolia Mansion website even promises ghosts (there's a whole section with ghost stories and orb photos from guests). The mansion is listed at $5.5 million.

with the majority of the estates having no people in the pics, seeing a random (marrying?) couple is really....odd.

Does the price include a private security force?

Am I missing something? Why?

I've been there, seen it, it's not worth it. Besides, there are literally HUNDREDS of "haunted" houses in New Orleans----and you can take a tour to see them. I've got a picture of one of them with what looks like a ghost in a window. But you can find these old houses in virtually every city in the world. Asking $5.5 million is WAY TOO MUCH.

Pathetic! The photos on the hotel's website are pictures of dust particles and/or pollen. the only photo that is worth posting on there is the one taken outdoors that shows the ectoplasm. The only thing those photos inside of the hotel prove is that they need better housekeeping and a better vacuum cleaner. If they are going to offer ghost tours and try to educate people, they should at the very least know what they are talking about.

instead of paying to stay in hotel , it should be the other way around , hotel should pay you for staying there putting up with ghost , it's your time .
I think digital cameras does that .......because I have a "white glo " on my wall and the house isn't haunted ..........
People has a huge imagination ..........

My house is much bigger in square footage and costs A lot more, so I've got 'em beat on size and price. My house is NOT haunted, but I wish it was. At halloween, I dress like a witch. The only problem I have is that I have a real mole on my 4-head. I wish I could move it to my nose or chin. It would make me look more witchy instead of bitchy.

A friend of mine was married in this beautiful, stately mansion and the whole experience was wonderful. I can see where it would easily convert into a bed and breakfast as well as a wedding reception facility. It is conveniently located and easy to reach. If I had $5.5 I would go for it!
