SKORPPIO Vodka (& Other Scorpion Goodies)

Usually finding an insect in your drink is a bad thing, but in the case of SKORPPIO Vodka it's meant to be a special treat... like getting the worm from the bottom of a bottle of tequila. SKORPPIO is five times distilled single-grain vodka produced in England that has a special woody flavor that comes from the addition of food-grade edible, farm-raised scorpions.
Although eating a large, vodka-marinated insect isn't something I'm interested in, I can appreciate that it's a delicacy in some cultures and a unique experience I'm sure. Check out the gallery below for more edible scorpion treats.

There's too much scorpian.
You've got the name of the bottle "Skorppio", an outline of a scorpion on the label, a reassurance of "vodka with scorpian" and the actual scorpion at the bottom of the bottle.
Forget subtlety, this bottle is for the stupid.
And probably the discriminating taste that goes with low brands.

Actually there are no worms in the bottle of tequila bottles (except maybe some spring-breaker moonshine)... it's mezcal that sometimes includes a dried worm.

actually i have a bottle of mezcal in my cupboard and it is a brand of tequila.................

Just a technical piece of information. Scorpion is not an insect. They are arthropods, like insects, lobster and centipides, but belong to a different classes. Scorpion, like spider are Chelicerate.

I tried scorpion kabobs at a street vendor in Beijing a couple of years ago on a dare. They were the momst popular food around--the line wound through the market--and were actually pretty decent, albeit chewy.

Tequila does not have a worm in the bottle, you're thinking of mescal which is the cheap mexican liquor

The term mezcal generally refers to all agave-based distilled liquors that are not tequila (a mezcal variant allowed to be made only from the blue agave plant, usually in the town of Tequila and the surrounding region of Jalisco). Al Tequilas are Mezcals but not all Mezcals are Tequlia.

Oh PETA will be all over this. They are trying to get us to think more kindly of fish, (ergo, less likely to want to eat them) by re-imagining them as "sea kittens" How will they refer to scorpions? "desert lobster"?

What is the point? I guess it could be fun if you were just going to display the unopened bottle in your bar.

Man - you were all faster than me...
Mezcal actually made it to an own category of mexican spirit.
In Tequila though it is prohibited to put anything like worms or other additives into the bottle [the distiller would loose his license] - maybe there would only be a hole in law, if you would refer to "flavored Tequila"; but this is just theoretically...
And yes, Scorpions are related to Spiders. They have 8 legs like spiders. Insects [bugs, grasshoppers, bees, flies etc.] have 6 legs...
