Mercedes' New Armored E-Class Stops .44 Magnums, Hand Grenades

Mercedes-Benz is coming out with an armored version of its all-new 2010 E-Class, able to withstand fire from weapons up to a .44 Magnum, and with optional underbody armor, hand grenade blasts as well. The E-Guard, which will be available when the sleek new 2010 E-Class goes on sale this summer, receives reinforced "protective elements" around the bodyshell consisting of high-strength steel and aramide components, aided by resistant polycarbonate glazing, MotorTrend reports. Despite the additions luxurious interior space and comfort levels remain the same as the standard E-Class, and pricing begins at about $58,000 depending on the specific model and drivetrain selected.

Well now, this is more like it! I've never been drawn to the Mercedes, but I'll just drive one of these when I get to be First Lady so I can drive all around D.C.! Of course, it could be the other drivers who need this armored car while I'm on the road now that I'm half blind. Now that I'm thinking about it, would this vehicle hold up well in a crash safety test? I might need one now anyway....

With Obama president we probably need a car that stops hand grenades and .44 magnums since he's taking away a lot of the security set up after 9/11. We're going to bring the terrorists here so we can fight the wars on our home ground. Can't wait to see the liberals crying when their getting beheaded right in their homes. They'll think being waterboarded wasn't half bad in comparison.

now you're being paranoid (sounds like you believed in Bush--lol), terrorists wouldn't get very far in causing havoc in the USA, this country is huge, the common citizen would shoot them on site, if the street thugs don't get them first lol! And "I say bring it on"! I would like to see those nut cases bring jihad to downtown Lancaster, PA ! they couldn't live long enough to get close to my neighborhood!

This car would be a drug-runner or moon-shinner's dream. Having owned a mercedes, I know first hand, the price-tag, not the so called German engineering, is the most extrodnary thing. Currently, I drive a 2005 Cadi SRX and wouldn't trade it for either a mercedes or BMW (Bavarian Motor Werks) automobile. You would be amazed at the vast number of Germans that prefer French and or Japanese cars over those mfg in Germany.
