Flavored tequilas have been around for a couple of years but lately there seems to be a flowering of premium flavored brands.
Tanteo Tequila offers three blanco tequilas infused with the flavors of Mexico that seem to be a natural fit for tequila :Jalapeño, Chocolate and Tropical. Tanteo is a 100% Weber blue agave tequila with natural extracts of jalepeño, chocolate and tropical fruit.. Tanteo is distilled, infused and bottled in the historic town of Tequila, Mexico. The flavors are elaborately crafted: Tanteo Jalapeño uses four separate infusions of organic jalapeños, Tanteo Chocolate gets its rich flavor from roasted, malted and raw cocoa, and the Tanteo Tropical combines all-natural extracts of mango, pineapple and guanabana. The brand recently launched in New York City and sells for $45.

For those that love tasting, comparing and discovering fine unknown Tequila brands, there’s a great site, www.TequilaRack.com. It contains free Tequila education and tasting information supplied by the Consejo Regulador del Tequila (CRT), Nacional de la Industria Tequilera (CAMARA), and the Academia Mexicana del Tequila. Within the resource section of the site is a free interactive Tequila Training course found here: http://www.tequilarack.com/lessons/lessons.html
There are many traditional family Tequila brands that have only recently begun to export outside of their villages. This site showcases 6 of these Micro Brands from different distilleries around the Appellation area made available as a beginners tasting flight of 100% Agave Reposados. A perfect place for one to start their journey into learning about the most misunderstood “Spirit of the Gods”. ¡Salud!
