The value is in the perceived benefits (isn't that just about like everything though?!) and the location the nests must be harvested.  There was an Iron Chef that used it as the show's ingredient for what was called the most expensive showdown ever. And, she's told me about some the beliefs surrounding animal parts in Chinese folklore that she gleaned from her experiences with the people.<br><br>Most of what she mentioned would seem pretty silly to any person with a modern belief system, and also these things had no basis in scientific fact.
