Sunday Real Esate Round-Up, 02/01/09


From the LA Times Hot Property:
--Software tycoon John McAfee has lowered the price on his Molokai, Hawaii, home to $3.7 million from $4.9 million. The four-bedroom home, shown above, is newly constructed and sits on 5.3 ocean-front acres. The listing is here.I'm hoping he has better luck than he did with the sale of his Colorado home.
--Fashion designer Yael Aflalo who is behind the Ya-Ya fashion line has cut the price on her Hollywood Hills home to $3.95 million. The 1930s home which once belonged to John Barrymore was listed at $4.95 million when it was our estate of the day last summer.
--Jeweler Michael Beaudry has listed his Beverly Hills home for $13.5 million. The listing is here.
The owners of the Mystery Bookstore in Westwood have put their six-bedroom home in the Holmby Hills area on the market for $5.9 million. The listing is here.

From the NY Post:
Infamous swindler Bernie Madoff's penthouse apartment, where he currently is under house arrest, may soon be on the market. The apartment could be priced at up to $8 million.

--Aberdeen Townhomes has created a set of landmarked townhouses with condo-like amenities in New York City priced between $7.5 million to $15.9 million. The interior space ranges from around 3,500 square feet to 8,100 square feet, with four to six bedrooms and have remote door-answering services, concierges, automated security systems, climate-controlled package rooms and building maintenance.

From the Wall Street Journal's Private Properties:
--Two years ago former Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards sold his Washington home for $5.2 million, its current owners are trying to sell it, renovated, for almost twice as much. The home is listed at $9.95 million.
--Hollywood producer Brian Grazer has his taken his Pacific Palisades home off the market. It was listed at $27.5 million.
--Nicolas Cage has cut the price on his Bel Air home. We'll check it out as an estate of the day later today.
--Drew Bledsoe has cut the price on his Westlake, Texas home to $1.625 million, slightly less than the $1.7 million he paid for it new in 2005. The listing is here and says that the seller will buy the purchaser a membership to the development's golf club on closing.

--Princess Diana's brother, Earl Charles Spencer, has been spotted touring oceanfront estates in the San Diego area.

From the NY Observer's Manhattan Transfers:
--The Sloane Mansion which was listed at $64 million has been reduced by $10 million to $54 million. It was our estate of the day last February.

From the Real Estalker:
--Baseball pitcher Sidney Ponson has listed his Fort Lauderdale, Florida home for $4.95 million. He bought the home in 2004 for $3.75 million.
--Rumor has it that Lauren Conrad is moving out of her Hollywood Hills home and into a condo in the Westwood area of Los Angeles.
--Jennifer Lopez has been spotted house hunting in the San Fernando valley area.
--Kenny Chesney may have picked up a home in Key West, Florida that was listed at $5.7 million and the quickly put it back on the market.
--Cheryl Ladd and husband music producer Brian Russell have put their home in Santa Ynez, California on the market for $5.795 million. The couple picked up the 22.5 acres of land way back in 1989 for $459,000 and built a large four-bedroom home. The listing is here.
--Brad Pitt might be putting his oceanfront home in Malibu on the market.
--Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have been house shopping and checked out a 7,000+ square foot house in Studio City.
--The $80 million penthouse at 15 Central Park West has had a huge price cut down to $47.5 million. It was our estate of the day over the summer.


From Newsday's Real LI:
--Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony picked up the home next door to the one they already own in Brookville, New York for $2.05 million. The five-bedroom Colonial originally went on the market last March for $2.299 million and the property shares estate gates with the home that Lopez and Anthony already own.
--The Sassafras estate in Lloyd Neck, New York that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are renting comes with the use of four-deck yacht.
--Rumor has it that Madonna and Alex Rodriguez enjoyed a weekend retreat at Jerry Seinfeld's East Hampton house.
--Sagaponack Greens, a 41-acre property owned by Manhattan attorney and real estate investor Alan Schnurman has had a mahor price cut. The property had been listed for $64.5 million, it is now down to $47 million, a 27 percent reduction in the asking price. The listing is here.
