WellGood, Charities of the Day

As the force behind multiple non-profit initiatives, WellGood has been instrumental in impacting hundreds of charities through the creation of ChangingthePresent.org providing an avenue for donors to share their philanthropic interests with friends as well as purchase gifts for others in the name of charity. Assisting charities in maximizing the benefit of modern business practices and the internet in particular, WellGood's consulting efforts are helping to change giving from just a transaction to the expression of one's own values.
Their latest creation, ClassWish.org, matches classroom needs with interested donors to ensure necessary supplies and equipment are available for the benefit of children in school.
The tax-deductible donations are organized through ClassWish which allows teachers to make a personalized Wish List to suit their particular situation. This innovative website keeps our teachers from shelling out their own hard-earned money for classroom items and ensures the children will receive a more complete school experience. I have to say I appreciate the idea of supporting schools directly as opposed to purchasing more cookie dough and wrapping paper I don't need.

Hi,
What a great find. If I understand this correctly I can log on to one of these websites and contribute what I can/want, and have to go where I want it to? Sometimes I don't like to give my information to a charity because they won't leave me alone.
Thanx,
Diana

Laura,
Thank you for the very nice post about our work on http://www.ChangingThePresent.org and http://www.ClassWish.org. We truly appreciate it.
Diana,
You can donate through ChangingThePresent.org to support any of half a million nonprofits (and you can maintain your privacy if you wish). You can also donate toward any of about 1600 specific opportunities. For instance, you can preserve an acre of the rain forest, fund an hour of cancer research, provide cataract surgery to restore a blind person's sight, etc. With so many choices, you're sure to find something meaningful. You can also give those donations in a friend's name, in lieu of a traditional gift (after all, your friends probably have enough stuff). You can even personalize a printed greeting card, which will include a photo and description of your gift, right from the site. And if you like that idea of a more meaningful gift, you can create a wish list and registries to let your friends know what you would appreciate.
http://www.ClassWish.org lets teachers, administrators and PTA/PTO officers shop for whatever they need and create wish lists. We give them the tools to share those wishes with parents, alumni, neighbors, friends, local businesses and others. Visitors can see exactly what is needed and how they can help. Their donations are tax-deductible, and ClassWish provides a receipt. It couldn't be any easier!
We don't have millions of dollars for advertising, so we appreciate your sharing the word of these nonprofit sites with those you know. Thank you!
