No Sale For Saddam's Yacht

Even a government can't sell a yacht in these tough times. The 269-foot yacht that once belonged to Saddam Hussein has failed to sell. The yacht will be towed from Greece to a Basra, Iraq. The Iraqi government has had the yacht on sale for $30 million since last fall. The yacht, was done up for Saddam Hussein in a lavish style with marble and gold and features a bulletproof atrium, two medical treatment centers and a swimming pool. It had been in Greece for maintenance work.

Deidre you are such an idiot! Do you think that everything that doesn't sell is because of the economic climate? If I try to sell a blank piece of paper for a million dollars and don't get a buyer, do you think I would have if I sold it 3 years ago? No!
The Iraq war started fairly recently, so Saddam doesn't exactly have the same appeal that Hitler does. Owning Saddam's ship isn't like owning a car driven by Hitler. There are so numerous alternatives to the ship that are far more superior which a better background.
On top of that, the pictures shown above display very outdated and tacky interiors. Its kinda like how Scott Storch got a fraction of the price he paid for his yacht...its because nobody wants it, not because nobody can afford it!

You make some interesting points, William. I agree the decor is certainly a determining factor in why the yacht hasn't sold and certainly the provenance is also key. I still think the economic situation plays some role because the overall number of people potentially interested in a purchase like this is reduced. But yes, there are better yachts to spend $30 million on.
