Hard Times For Some Shop At Home Retailers
With most people curbing their shopping dramatically, onair retailers are feeling the pinch. Both ShopNBC and Jewelry Television have reported staff cuts. ShopNBC will be making an 11% reduction in salaried staff, which now adds up to a 27% reduction since fiscal 2007. ShopNBC offers apparel, home goods, electronics and jewelry. Jewelry Television, which specializes in selling jewelry and watches online has announced another round of layoffs. The company cut over 200 jobs last year and called off plans for a new headquarters. The new layoffs could put them at a staff reduction of 50% over recent years.
