Burt Reynolds in Hobe Sound, Estate of the Day

This week I'm checking out some celebrity estates that have been on the market a while but never got the estate of the day treatment Case in point, the home in Florida belonging to actor Burt Reynolds. Reynolds has been trying to sell for a long time and has trimmed the price multiple times. The 12,500-square-foot waterfront compound was once listed at $15 million. The Mediterranean-style home is on over three acres of land and borders a wildlife refuge. The main home has five bedrooms and there is also a two-bedroom guesthouse. The home includes a theater room (complete with a movie still of Reynolds as the Bandit), gym, and a billiards and bar room complete with what looks to be a stuffed bear. The home is now listed at $8.995 million which is a 40% reduction off the original price and it's been at this price for around six months so it may need another price cut to sell.

Burt, I sold real estate for 20 yrs. You need to fire your agent and get someone who will tell you the truth! Empty it out, get a great decorator to change the colors, and reduce the price. If you really want to sell, you have to beat the competition. It used to be location, location, location, now it's price, price, price, and then location. Good luck!

Hobe Sound is a wonderful area...but perhaps its time for HGTV teams of "The Stagers" or "Designed to Sell" to de-clutter! Too much "STUFF"

He needs to seriously de~clutter.

He can sell all the outdated furniture to fix his horrible plastic surgery. This home is so out dated its sad. And "I love me who do you love"..with his face plastered on the movie screen. Sorry but Burt is a stuck up has been as far as I am concerned. And so is this house.

How much does he want for the Gym only.?

I agree, a staging company could get this place sold. It's 1975 cool and in 2009 that is just BAD!

Burt or his realtor is trying to sell Mr Reynolds Style and it will never sell. Change the decor and remove 50% of what is in the house now and open it up!!

I understand the root to many of the comments found on here , but you must remember that pictures do not always capture the real essence of a room . Sure.....by the look of some of these photos it would appear to be very cluttered , but that may not be the case , at all . My house photographs terribly and does not do it justice , at all . So I'm leaving an open mind on this house , as well .

I really love the mesh of colors and the "comfortable" feel the pictures showed. It doesn't look like one of those sci-fi sterile environments. Strikes me as having a very true-to-life homey feel that would make most "down to earth" people feel comfortable. If I had the money I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
Congrats to Burt for not caving in to the home decour fashionistas! I'm sure the put their 2 cents in a time or two :-)
Wishing him the best of luck!!!

you need a reality check big -time. forget the oh sooooooooooo glamorous women of hollywood. you need, finally, a woman who loves you for you, not your trappings. it's just "stuff" as i have come to learn, let it go. easily let go than u think. you have more yrs. of great entertainment in you, so why not go for it? a person can live anywhere, as i have come to learn. chorowitz

First - Remove all items immediately!
second - Have a real decorator come in and place personal items so that it looks and feels like a HOME!

I live very close to this home, you are paying for the location which is very beautiful. As for the house, all I can say is WOW! It needs to be cleared out and let the Mizner Spanish details show, it is completely decorated in the wrong period and style. I have always noticed in FL that many people with $ and beautiful homes have the WORST taste in decor. Early whorehouse has never really been in, well, perhaps in the mid 70's with the velvet paintings! Good luck Burt!!

I would be happy to offer my assistance. My staging company would make that place look like an entirely different home. The majority of the responces indicate it needs some serious help. I can do it.

I stage homes for faster sale and work with owners and realtors. This home needs to be staged professionally so that you can see the home's features that a buyer would appreciate. I think the home rooms are probably very inviting if the decor was eliminated and a home staging professional gets it ready for new photos. If interested
email our company. We can help you Burt! Luv ya...jr

Maybe 1.5 million it looks like liberache estate in Palm Springs. Tacky is being nice. Sad for such a good guy Burt is a good guy.

No jealousy here, just facts, the home is so cluttered with crap that it's hard to see beyond all the junk in the home to see its true beauty. It really IS a beautiful home, its the decor that has got to go. I am certain his realtor has asked him to clear over 50% of the stuff out of there and it's a shame that he obviously has ignored that advice. It will cost him millions in the end because it cheats the home of its beauty.

He needs to take about 80 percent of the stuff out of that house. Leave one couch, leave it looking more empty and clean. Dump all the dishes, furniture. Lordy its way too busy. Actually it probably needs a renovation and update. He should move most of the furniture if not all, out of that house and update or lower the price even more. Been down that road, and we live and learn.
