Burt Reynolds in Hobe Sound, Estate of the Day

This week I'm checking out some celebrity estates that have been on the market a while but never got the estate of the day treatment Case in point, the home in Florida belonging to actor Burt Reynolds. Reynolds has been trying to sell for a long time and has trimmed the price multiple times. The 12,500-square-foot waterfront compound was once listed at $15 million. The Mediterranean-style home is on over three acres of land and borders a wildlife refuge. The main home has five bedrooms and there is also a two-bedroom guesthouse. The home includes a theater room (complete with a movie still of Reynolds as the Bandit), gym, and a billiards and bar room complete with what looks to be a stuffed bear. The home is now listed at $8.995 million which is a 40% reduction off the original price and it's been at this price for around six months so it may need another price cut to sell.

The theatre is nice, but the rest of the house is a mess!

Burt was and is the coolest of the cool. I bought a bundle of Cosmo after seeing him with Helen Girlie Brown on the tonight show the next day. My mom, my Aunt Dolly and 22 other women and girls were greatful at the time. I am sorry that they made a rerun of the Longest Yard and the Dan August silide can not be copied.

Hey isn't that only a 3 wood across the water from my place?
Jay Jan 4th 2009 7:35PM
Terrible. The only half-way decent room is the theatre room as JN said...
The part that strikes me the most is the beyond-tacky mini-chandelier over the dining table. I really hope Reynolds didn't pay more than a beer to some bloke for that 'piece' - it looks like a light bulb surrounded by bubble wrap.
This house needs to be razed. Although the ATL estate featured recently had at least some hope if it were gutted, this does not.
I guess it's true - money can't buy you taste, sad..

1/100 of the different objects inside the house whose enought. Aiuto mamma!

If I were Mr. Reynolds, I wouldn't hire that decorator for my next house.
ruel Jan 6th 2009 8:33PM
burt, call me. that design is not as cool as the bandit.www.24estyle.com
carole Jan 6th 2009 8:39PM
Hey Burt,
Come into the millenium with the decor...no wonder it's not selling! Really bad early 70's...looks like Lonnie was the last one to decorate
John Jan 6th 2009 8:39PM
Loni Anderson helped Burt with the designing.

EEWWWWWW.....a little outdated for me. That place needs a revamping and NOW.......Declutter, get rid of that railing and get some color on the walls for starters. Just my humble opinion.......
Toodles Jan 6th 2009 8:40PM
HGTV needs to make that mess over.
Chuck Jan 6th 2009 8:48PM
I'll take it for $500,000!!!! Call me
John Jan 6th 2009 8:58PM
The interior decor would best be described as Early American Whorehouse.

I have 2 $3.5 million homes. One on a high end beach in Florida. I was astounded at the tackiness I just saw. Mr. Reynolds I would immediately remove all furniture and move to a rental until you sell this place. I have never seen an expensive home that looked this cluttered and out of date. Leave it empty and clean or hire a staging company ASAP. Please save yourself more humiliation and financial distress. And in your next home hire a professional designer and donate the stuff that is now keeping people from seeing the value of your property. Good luck to you. I have always wished you well.

pbreed1229........You're exactly right .......clear that mess out ...........i would never buy it .......actually i dont like the style of home ......ugly.
jj Jan 7th 2009 2:12AM
he should have emptied the whole place out before he put it on the market. UN-DECORATE everything.. then... and only then... someone might be able to stomach this mess...
Jules Jan 6th 2009 9:21PM
What a tacky, gaudy, tastelessly decorated house. He probably spent most of his time in the best part of this property -- the river!
ed Jan 6th 2009 9:32PM
Great place but i heard it comes with Dom Deluise to bad
Vanessa Jan 6th 2009 9:47PM
8.9 million is way over the top for the location. Nobody gives a rats ass who slept there first. He'll be lucky if he gets half of what he's asking now. Burt Reynolds? Just keep paying the taxes on it and sooner or later it will fall down on its on.
