Paris Hilton Robbed Of $2 Million
There's good news and bad news in the world of Paris Hilton today. The good, she recently her Bentley pimped out in pink so she now has her own Barbie dream car (the pictures are here). The bad news is that the LA Times has reported that an estimated $2 million worth of jewelry and other belongings was stolen from her Hollywood Hills home. The thieves apparently got in through an unlocked door. She was not home at the time and the house does have security video equipment. This isn't the first time Paris Hilton has been the victim of a robbery. On Mother's Day in 2006, thieves stole nearly $10,000 worth of Dior baubles destined for Kathy Hilton and her sex tape, her personal papers, her Sidekick and more have all wound up missing at various times.

While I'm no fan of Paris she didn't deserved to be burglarized. And, leaving the door unlocked happens to us all on occasion.
My home was recently burglarized also. And, while they only stole my wife's laptop and a vase, it was not a good feeling; especially considering I was at home and asleep at the time.
By the way, I like Paris' pink Bentley and she looks really happy with it. :)

I wonder if her insurance will cover it. I know many insurers these days don't cover losses due to negligence (such as leaving the door open).
Bill Dec 20th 2008 12:09AM
It'll probably depend on her relationship with the insurer and the type of policy she had with them.
Some policies will cover theft, damage and loss - usually at a premium though - while others only cover theft and damage.
The insurer my wife and I use is fantastic and has given us very little hassle when it comes to making a claim. For example, I lost my cell phone at a movie theatre recently, and the claim was settled within 48 hours. The insurer even went so far as to give me cash to replace the stereo hands-free with a compatible model for the new phone, even though I didn't lose it. So, all in all, I wound up only paying the $150 excess fee to gain $750 worth of cell phone and the associated accessories for it. And, because the advances in technology and the subsuquent prices decreases assocaited with that, due to cost effective mass production, I got a much nicer new phone to boot. ;)

Okay, maybe I am WAY behind in the times, but $750.00 for a cell phone? You must LIVE on that thing! Good Grief! I am happy with my 50 dollar a month plan, and all of 600 min.... (free nights and weekends - don't ask about the plan.... I only have it because I continue to pay for it... not a "special" any more... nor do I see it coming back any time soon!)till.......750.00 for a cell phone! That's MORE THAN 1 1/2 months RENT for me! YIKES!

I live in a country with a much smaller population and lower exchange rate - New Zealand to be exact - than you probably do. Here we don't get free phones with our contracts, unless they are very low end and have next to no other features other than calling and texting.
Since I like multimedia type phones, with good cameras and nice music players, I always winds up having to pay $500+ for them. Because of our exchange rate, and distance from major suppliers, phones that cost $250 in US wind up costing us $650 (NZ). Yeah, I consider it a rip off. But, that's the way is it, at the moment anyway.

The work on her new Bentley was done in poor taste. Can you imagine destroying your $200k car like that? Westcoast Customs? The economy must be down...
Bill Dec 20th 2008 10:47PM
Actually, if I had a $200K Bentley I'd probably get it customized in an orange colour scheme. And, yes, if I lived near West Coast Customs I'd probably get them to do the work because they do some of best work in the industry. ;)

Bill if you knew anything about car customization, you would know that WCC is nothing more than a big commercial. They appeal to the urban youth which is why they "pimp" out your ride with "bling" and the like. Chip Foose would be a better choice if you were to go that route.

If you weren't so damned smug I *might* actually listen to you. ;)
Kevin Dec 25th 2008 1:49PM
Actually not trying to start a car customization argument but I like Mansory, they did really sick Phantom and other cars with Carbon Fiber etc... Go to Google and type in Mansory Rolls Royce Phantom...
Ken Dec 25th 2008 6:02PM
Carbon fiber is sporty but not luxe. While the Phantom has lots of power it is more of the ultimate luxury vehicle than a fast supercar. Carbon fiber in a 6,000+ pound vehicle is almost oxymoron. Just FYI.
