George And Laura Bush Buy A Home In Dallas

One of the biggest real estate scoops was gotten by Candy Evans of Dallas Dirt this week who reported that President George W. Bush and Laura Bush have picked up a home on Daria Place in Dallas's Preston Hollow neighborhood. The new Bush home is far more modest than the White House. It is a four-bedroom, ranch-style home that according to the Dallas Morning News, appraises at nearly $2.1 million, but sold for considerably more. It is more than 8,500 square feet and has an estimated annual tax bill of about $44,000.
Traffic has already jammed up the home's quiet cul-de-sac with people stopping by to check out the house. The home was purchased in the name of longtime Bush family accountant Robert McCleskey and backs up to the estate of Mr. Bush's friend and former business partner Tom Hicks (an estate that includes a handy helicopter pad). Bush may be buying a house next door for added privacy.

I am sure he will need the house next door for the secret service people assigned to him.

This is interesting. The rumors going around Dallas a while back were that both Bush and Cheney were planning to leave the Whitehouse and move close to each other in Higland Park in Dallas, I believe the street their houses were rumored to be on was Beverly Drive near the country club.
I've always been really interested to see if Dick Cheney moves back to Highland Park because the 12th Amendment of the Constitution prohibits the electoral college from voting for a president and vice president from the same state as themselves. There was a lawsuit about it, and Dick Cheney claimed to be from Wyoming. And he is from Wyoming. But he was an inhabitant of Texas, and the Constitution didn't say where you had a drivers' license from ('cause there was no such thing) or where you were registered to vote, but where you were an inhabitant of. Dick Cheney was an inhabitant of Texas, and I'm certain he'll be back in January, thus cementing the fact that both Dick and Bush were in the Whitehouse in 2000 was the first of many Constituional violations of the last 8 years.

Welcome home, George and Laura. We are happy to have you back. We are proud of you and we know how proud you are of Texas. Hope you both get some rest and then get out and help Texas stay strong. We are a strong people and you showed that in office. No matter how ugly some people got, you let it roll off your backs. You are respectable and respected. God bless.
