P. Diddy Pays $750,000 for Bond Audition

Earlier this month, nouveau James Bond Daniel Craig floated the idea that his successor in the famous role need not be white. "I think the role could easily be played by a black actor, because the character created by Ian Fleming in the '50s has undergone a great deal of evolution and continues to be updated," Craig said at a Quantum of Solace press conference. "After Barack Obama's victory I think we might have reached the moment for a colored 007."
Rap mogul, designer and aspiring actor Sean "Diddy" Combs (above) apparently not only agrees, but has determined the Bond role should go to him. Combs just spent $750,000 of his own money shooting a sort of audition / calling card which he sent to Bond producers in an effort to convince them. The video, full of Bond-like action sequences, was shot in the South of France. "This is my audition tape for the next James Bond," Combs tells the London Daily Mirror. "There is a black President and it's time for there to be a black Bond."

Didn't he just stop flying private because it got too expensive? Isn't $750,000 a bit steep for something that will probably just end up in the producer's trash and maybe some blogs?

I agree with Diddy that it could be the time for a black Bond, but I absolutely don't think it should be him. He is a caricature of cool-it's too studied and intentional. Again, I would support a black Bond, just not Diddy Bond.

damn....and in this era when money is so tight for everyone...he drops 750k to try to be the next bond? i wouldnt mind a black bond....but it shouldnt be him
Marc Dec 4th 2008 7:37AM
It may be time for any color of Bond, but it is not time for an a-hole Bond.

A black american bond would come off too much like
Esp with someone like p-wannabe.
I hate this sort of gratuitous self-hype.

there was supposed to be a pic of eddie griffin, "undercover brother" in the text. I guess it doesn't support html tags

diddy is just gross and proof that not very smart people will buy anything. a fool and his money are soon parted.
Jason Dec 4th 2008 11:48AM
The black Bond should be Wesley Snipes. Once he gets out of jail for tax evasion.

I think that P. Diddy, Puffy, Puff Daddy, Powder Puff ... would make a great Bond in a Keenan Wayan's writen and directed Bond. Remember the first Scary Movie and White Chicks. Classics... WendEll CampbEll

My problem with him is he doesn't articulate his words, he's almost impossible to understand.

Time for a black Bond, and his name is Idris Irbe. I may have got the spelling wrong, but anyone who saw The Wire knows him as Stringer Bell. And he's a Brit. Which should help, if he wants to be Bond.

I would not see this man as a Bond. My affiliation with the franchise would officially end right there. My god, what a terrible idea. That is what too big an ego does to a man. It makes them look like a complete twat....and in front of the whole world too. How embarrassing.
Shine Dec 5th 2008 1:59AM
Colin Salmon would be a good black Bond. Diddy is only qualified to play his man servant
Bob Dec 5th 2008 3:21PM
I don't really care about the color of his skin, but James Bond is and always will be Brittish. Forgot it Puffy.
Bill Dec 6th 2008 1:33AM
There are quite a few actors of African descent I would like to see play Bond. However, P Diddy is not one of them. I have respect of Diddy as a businessman. However, I have little respect for him as an entertainer. While some of the acts he's produced have been very strong, the stuff is does himself is pretty weak.
Diddy would probably be as weak in the role as Pierce Bronson was.

that is the most ridiculous thing i've read this year
you cannot have a NIGGER bond, it doesn't work
bond is white, needs to be white ONLY
niggers are taking over the world, STOP them now !
Bill Dec 10th 2008 1:38AM
You're absolutely right. Black people are taking over. And, I do hope that this realization causes you to move to the isolated back woods where you wont able to infect others with your racist paranoia.
P.S. I'm wondering if it maybe time to file a compliant with Luxist.com's parent company for it's seeming refusal to take action in regards to racist comments posted on it's website. I've reported several of these types of comments to Luxist.com, yet they remain for all to see.

It's cool to aspire for greatness and reach for it, however everybody was not meant to do everything.
Diddy has proven to be an excellent businessman and a great show man...however his skills as an actor are pretty uninspiring...come on "Raisins In The Sun"...
You can't tell me Sidney Potier was not mildly dissapointed...
