Government watchers are up in arms in New York about a $21,000 antique Turkish rug from
Stark Carpet which was shipped to the
Governor's Mansion in Albany, New York this summer. This news was recently revealed after stern warnings from Governor David Paterson to state agencies to cut spending as budget deficits in the state have soared to $2 billion this year alone. The Office of General Services says the purchase was part of routine maintenance on the historic mansion. But some are angry,
feeling that it shows government waste. The
AP also says that the Texas House of Representatives ordered about $140,000 in items for its lounge, including antique chandeliers and big screen televisions.

You got what you voted for. Long live the day when people with IQ's below 100 can vote! Change, is what you will get less of when you spend a dollar after January 20th!

julia....You're right, Saddam didn't ask his people for money for bailouts.....He conficated it from them under threat of death. Education was free...only to men. Women were regulated to the status of livestock. No taxes...because their money was already conficated. Free healthcare...that's why the average life expectancy was less than 60 years old. This is some utopian society you are defending here. Yuo are the perfect example of the "dumbing down" of America......

Finally, we have someone in the White House that is for the People and he doesn't care how the Big Shots like it. I believe that he has been thought by his Grand Parents that, We should Care About Others and not just ourselves. I can hear his Grandmother now saying something like: Son think of others before you think of yourself.
It's about time someone from the outside gets into the office and doesn't just go with the flow to make himself and wealthily people, more money! He doesn't have to please the wealthily, he is set for the rest of his life.
I believe that he believes, the government along with those companies that receive government money waste our money and is willing to do something about it. So, they might as well get use to them watching where the money goes.
YES, I do believe that Change is Coming but, it will not happen over night! I will say it again: We finally have someone that is for the People and not just for the wealthily!

This is kinda like the extravagent celebrity filled parties thrown at the huge mansions of Barbara streisand and all the other stars for Obama, while saying we are all needing to pay more taxes and show we care, while they dine on lobster and eat caviar and expensive champagne. Then having the audacity to say oh lol they are going to say I am eating al this expensive food and dining at this mansion because I'm elite."Really, YOU KNOW i'm just doing this for the little people" We need to look at all these rich people not just the few the MEDIA decides are targets while they PROTECT their buddies.

Most people have at least one room in their home they use for entertaining guests. The grandness of the special room depended upon your class status and purpose. People in high office naturally do need proper space for their social hospitality. Why should not a governor or president have such a space? Our state does not have a governor's mansion and they have to decorate their office at their own expense at the capitol. Obama has the same space as the Bushes and can decorate it the way they want within their own budget. They can not change the White House but refurbish it with government permission, participation and expense. They can make superficial changes within their quarters. O was having a mattress custom made and the decor of the children's rooms will be of their choosing. They are only renting it for 4 years not owning it. You wouldn't expect him to meet worldly dignitaries in his mansion in Chicago. The other pinhead Biden will have his palatial abode too. I am sure they will take good care of it.
