The Big Listing At 740 Park Avenue
I was going to save this for the Sunday Real Estate Round-Up but the news that a big apartment at 740 Park Avenue is quietly on the market for over $60 million has everyone buzzing. After all, as the New York Observer points out, how many buildings have a book written about them? The apartment in question belongs to Courtney Sale Ross, the widow of TIme Warner creator Steve Ross. The broker Edward Lee Cave has been showing the place to the handful of people who can actually afford the apartment. The duplex was created out of two apartments (one with 14 rooms, one with 18 rooms). There isn't a listing so no pictures on this one but the broker predicts it will become the most expensive residential deal in the city beating out Harry Maclowe's unit at The Plaza.
The high end of New York City real estate is full of lavish apartments at the moment, some priced higher than this one. Check out a small sample in the gallery below.

The price of New York real estate amazes me. Those of us who appreciate space prefer not to be crowded together. The surprising part is the number of people who prefer to be crowded together because they believe "thats where the action is"

I would imagine this one will sit on the block for quite a while like the Pierre one set for four years because it was listed at 70 million.
