Buy A NYC Apartment, Get A Free Bike

Will a thousand dollar bicycle get you to buy a multi-million dollar apartment? Probably not but it's an interesting incentive. The 211 Elizabeth building in Manhattan's Nolita area will offer custom bikes from A Black Bike, the first Dutch bike company based in NYC, to the owners of the 15 homes in the building. The bikes have the same new-meets-old sensibility as the building which features pre-war inspired layouts, wood-burning fireplaces and seven-foot black wood-framed windows and kitchens. The units in 211 Elizabeth are comparatively modest in size (which is also eco-friendly, less room to heat and cool). The one and two bedroom units top out at just over 2,000 square feet. Prices of available units range from $1.6 million to $3.9 million for a two-bedroom with a large terrace.

I have seen some news related to giving away free cars when people buy your house but a bike is kind of unattractive. Maybe in NYC where parking is impossible than a bike is an equal incentive but being where I'm from a bike just doesn't scream out buy me in my eyes. I think offering up a free parking spot in NYC would be a great incentive, as I've heard those spots can run as high as rent itself for the lack of space.

I think a better choice was to offer one or two original paintings for the entrance wall of each apartment.

In response to the above comment, I disagree...I think this is a GREAT idea...These bikes are wonderful and kudos to them for thinking of the enviornment and guiding their residents to a healthy lifestyle...
