Glamour + Camping = Glamping (Seriously)

The camping season is still in full swing around most parts of the country, but swiftly cooling temperatures (especially at night) are beginning to weed out all but the most hardcore of tent-pitching types. The good news? You don't have to be hardcore to enjoy camping during this season, or any other, thanks to a new trend called "glamping."
Glamping (makes me laugh every time I say it) is a term derived from the phrase "glamorous camping," and the idea is to bring nature and luxury together. Amenities vary depending on where you go, but many glamping packages include things like big, plush beds in your tent, personal butlers, gourmet food, wi-fi internet access, spa services (in a tent), and top shelf wine, liquor, cigars, etc. Rates start around $695 a night for a couple and can go as high as $50,000 a week for a family.

what the hell...why even go camping?? that sounds like an oxymoron...glamorous camping? nature and luxury don't go together....one of the reasons people go camping (at least this applies to me) is to get away from the stress of modern life...and that big bed, canopy looking tent, and lamp are a scary reminder of HOME. camping is about roughing it as much as possible and getting back to nature. some people suck the life out of everything.

on no Valerie. This is about taking camping to a higher level. Pampering, intimacy like the Arabian nights.

Haha I agree this is a lazy man's camp. There isn't a need to even go. This whole world is becoming about convenience and not the simple things. Sad

I'm wondering if I could get a reduced rate for my Girl Scout troop. I'm a little tired of the regular tents. :) Do they use gourmet chocolate for their s'mores??

I'll never forget the time that "the boys" decided to take "the girls" camping, down at Lake of the Ozarks... There was this strikingly pretty, bleach blonde, named Teri... The first thing she wanted to know was, "where do I plug-in the blow dryer?" She was dead serious and we ended up shuttling her back and forth to someplace miles, away, where she could fix her hair. To be quite fair, we "boys" couldn't figure out how to set up the tent (way too much "mother nature") and "the girls" took over, doing a splendid job! The year was 1976.

Anyhow, it takes a special sort of person to really enjoy camping for what it is. Oh, well, they're the ones who are missing out :]
