Long Beach, Indiana, Estate of the Day

Today's home introduced me to the small lakeside community of Long Beach, Indiana. The town is a popular vacation spot for those looking for a quick getaway from Chicago, which is an hour away. Today's home is one of the most lavish in the area. It sits right on the water with lake and Chicago skyline views and has 280 ft. of private beach. The four-bedroom home was built back in 1927 with a Mediterranean style that seems more suited for a warm weather location. The home has a great outdoor terrace, wine room, a gym that looks to be tucked into a porch-like space and has had its classic style updated with granite countertops in kitchens and baths and those glass box showers that are currently so popular. The home has retained its beautiful beamed ceilings and original fireplaces. It is listed at $6.24 million.

Beautiful estate. If You like Italian Style for external parts, garden and interior, we can help Your designers just with some suggestions directly from Italy. Visit our website Photo Gallery at http://www.bandg-studio.it/galleria_ita_e.htm. We lived for more then 30 years in Vicenza, Andrea Palladio's country.

I don't know how I feel about the windows. Did they lower the ceilings in the living room and kitchen? Those beams look like they cut off the tops of the windows.
It also looks like there is central heat/air as well as a boiler - ceiling vents and baseboard heat.
As far as the style, this is restrained for the period in which it was built. Old Lake Shore Drive heading South from Chicago is filled with old buildings that try to combine Tudor with Mediterranean with schizophrenic vomit. I've seen some renovations that include glitter rock on the facade.
