Lux Tip: Pen Intervention
Look at the pens on your desk. Maybe you have an especially nice one, one that means something sentimental to you, and another one you especially like. What on earth are the rest of them doing there? You don't even like those pens! Why do you make yourself use them every day when it would be so easy to have something you like?Pen Intervention Steps:
1. Throw out all pens with names of prescription drugs on them. Seriously.
2. Try to give away away the pens you don't like. Does your yoga studio want pens? Your local school?
3. Give up and throw out the pens you don't like.
4. Look at the pens you have left. Why do you have each pen? "I have to have a red one" is not good enough. You will be getting a red pen you like.
4. Decide how many pens you need and what kind you like. Ballpoint? Felt tip?
5. Go shopping. A good pen lasts a long time. Get good pens. Broke? Start stealing them from hotels. A pen with a story is better than a Bic.
It's just another easy way to make life more lux for cheap or free.

Start stealing them from hotels?? There is nothing luxury about a bic with the word Hilton on it...

Stealing pens from hotels....yeah a bic with Hilton written across is sure is luxury...

Seriously? Please make these posts stop. They are not remotely related to the high quality content posted by JPS and others.
And by the way, it's "luxe", not "lux".

I love this post! I am a pen hoader - I've carried a bunch - 100 or so - through 3 moves. I would probably never use any of them - they are ugly.
Pretty pens would make the world so much better :)
I can't wait to go shopping!!
Thanks for the tip!

Why a hotel advertisement is better than a prescription pen is beyond me. Hotels put out those cheap pens hoping people take them, so it's not exactly stealing.
If you want a swanky pen but don't have the dollars, you can find nice looking pens at the office supply store for a fraction of the price until you can afford the Waterman or higher brands.
If you want a nice pen, how about dropping hints for the holidays.....pens make easy gifts for people who are otherwise hard to shop for....

These columns are rather odd. I agree there are plenty of ways to make your life feel more luxe without spending tons of money, but this isn't one of them. I have one nice pen I like and make my workspace look more sleek by not having an ugly mug of pens on my desk at all, not by stealing crap plastic hotel pens.

I completely agree with WilloughbySpit. Please make these posts stop as I also believe it takes away from the quality posts here.

I tried posting before, but it seems to have not gone through, so I'll make my statement again.
This is so funny to me, whereas I have called for her to stop these ridiculous posts, this one makes me laugh so much, I wonder if that's not the proper way to look at them all--with some humor, forget the actual tips themselves. A good spot of humor is always welcome, lux, luxe or not.

A strange, poorly written, and redundant (do we really need Tips #2 *and* #3) post. While good advice in concept (clean up your pen jar), it is poor advice in practice (I do not need or intend to steal pens from a hotel ::rolling eyes::).
In fact, I initially wondered if this post ended up on the wrong blog. Apparently, and unfortunately, not.

well, I'm not sure where i stand on this - is this her site? or are we [public] somehow also in charge of the content here [by tax dollars or otherwise?] if not, then whomever is the author of this site/blog can certainly write whatever they deem appropriate! I note some interesting pieces on here and take from them what I wish - others, like this, that are of no importance or use to me are quickly glazed over - I merely noted the many comments and had to stop - my thoughts were "for a pen tip? all these comments?" so, that's that - the author should be allowed to write as they deem fit - simply ignore .. there are plenty of other high-end sites that simply post items without their signature thoughts :)
