Louis Vuitton collectors whose obsession knows no bounds may have a voyage ahead of them.
As the NY Sun reports, the only way to get your hands on one of the Louis Vuitton handbags designed by Rei Kawakubo the avant-garde founder of Comme des Garçons is to visit the pop-up store LVMH has set up in the Comme des Garçons store in Tokyo. The store is open through December and only shoppers who go there can place an order for one of Kawakubo's six designs. You cannot order by phone or internet and can only order one bag per person. And you don't even get your bag until after the shop closes and the orders are put into production. At least you don't have to trek pack to Tokyo to pick it up, the bags will be sent to the customer's local Louis Vuitton shop.

If anyone with more money than sense wants to put me on a plane to Tokyo I will gladly place an order for you. Hell, I'll only charge half my hourly rate.

I wrote an article about the actual shop which is quite interesting on my blog... http://blogretailrefugees.com/2008/09/05/true-pioneer-of-retail-design-rei-kawakubo/

That bag is ugly...I wouldn't leave my front step.

Am I the only person in this beautiful World who thinks Louis Vuitton handbags are uglier than ugly?

sweet! i can't wait for my local chinese in nyc to make an 'inspired duplicate' of this hideous creation - i like that it's ugly, feel like hitting some men with that handle .. and yes, LV has become THAT luxury brand that is anything but with the VAST accessibility to celebs and china town revelers
