We've seen the splendor of China's Bird's Nest, now check out a new contender for the prize of most unique stadium. The Wall' stadium in Doha, Qatar's capital city, will be the first underground stadium and the world's first open-air, air-conditioned stadium. The stadium design by MZ & Partners Architects has already earned the nickname "The Laptop." The main stand is upright with most of its height coming from the underground field. All lights will be embedded in the surrounding architecture of the stadium. It is hoped that the underground stadium will help keep the players and spectators cooler. It is expected to be completed in 2010 and will seat 11,000 people.

If you actually read the article, it's being built in QATAR. Meaning that the problems of the American economy and government have absolutely nothing to do with it.

11,000 seats?? Sounds like really big bucks for a REALLY tiny stadium!

Uhmmm Mike... The only 'monay' problem that their government has is they have TOO MUCH MONEY and are trying to find ways to spend it.
As for Ike, I doubt it was even a blip on their news channel's radar screen. Qatar was in no way affected by Hurricane Ike. Maybe Sandstorm Ike, but not Ike the Hurricane.

"Most Unique" is poor english. Unique is an absolute. There are no gradations of unique. When will authors and talking heads quit using the word "unique" when they should be using "unusual"?

Poor Mike. You guys are not very nice. Just because he doesn't spell worth a hill of beans, and doesn't realize that the Gulf of Mexico is no where near Qatar is no reason to beat up on him. Silly ol' Mike didn't mean any harm.
Also, I'm thinking that 11,000 seats may be just fine for a stadium in Qatar that probably will be used mostly for....soccer?

geez and mike doesn't realize either that this stadium is being built inQatar, not the U.S., so they aren't affected by Ike or (by no means) the money. But, I can guarentee this.....Mike was definately educated in the United States

how about unique-est- or - more uniquely? run that through your high school English. I think you have a
very unusual fixation on proper English. (I know the
feeling) But many literary accomplishments are the
written words of feelings and insights and visualizations of the author. Anyway, I think the
stadium is pretty cool although I'm not real sure of
why Katar needs a stadium.
