Beyond Yoga Pants Giveaway
With shorter days and colder weather, the temptation to snack your way into a new size is upon us. One way to fight the urge to cocoon is to splurge on new workout clothes. Even better if the clothes are cute. The clothes from Beyond Yoga are meant to do exactly what the title say, to go from yoga to the rest of your life. The pants are made from soft, wrinkle-resistant and sweat-wicking Supplex so they feel cozy but won't get soaked if your yoga life includes a Bikram class. These yoga pants have a large following with everyone from Cindy Crawford to Reese Witherspoon and Charlize Theron singing their praises. The line includes several styles of pants and tops ranging from camisoles and tanks to jackets and long-sleeved tops that would also look great with jeans.
We are giving away two pairs of the original pants. One in medium and one in large. These pants sell for $77. To win, throw a little fitness inspiration my way with a comment on what you do to avoid the threat of winter weight and let me know which size you need, medium or large.

I found a wonderful solution for avoiding winter weight -- I follow the suggestions found in The Ultimate Tea Diet by Dr. Tea (www.teagarden.com) and order his wonderful fresh tea leaves to enjoy throughout the fall and winter months - they brew up into beverages that taste so decadent, hard to believe they are only a few calories and boy, do they boost your metabolism!

The only thing I can do to keep the weight off is to remain active. I'm lucky enough to currently live in a building with a small gym downstairs. Also walking to and from the subway and around New York City helps with the extra pounds.

I make a point of exercising every day during the winter months and I am very careful about having naughty foods in the house so I'm not tempted to just nosh and graze throughout the cold winter days.
Christal Sep 15th 2008 11:28AM
Oh, and I would like the large pair if I win.

I just bundle up in the winter and go out for a walk or run anyway. I live in Mississippi though, so its not so bad! The cool air feels great when you're sweating!

I just had a baby and I walk, walk, walk. Or I should say, stroll, stroll, stroll. Every day, no matter what get out there and push the baby around! That's why I need a medium in those fabulous yoga pants!

I walk every day that the weather is nice, and when it isn't, I use the eliptical trainer at the gym for at least 1 hour. I need a large, if I win. Thanks!

The best way to lost weight is to fight off the cold. I find that when I diet I feel terribly cold (I drink lots of water to "bloat myself full", but all that liquid makes you feel very very cold). Build a warm fire, don't think about the huge meals that you're missing (have a small piece of turkey, a tiny bit of stuffing, NO potatoes and only a sliver of pie as a present for yourself) and try to beat out the cold.

I do an hour and a half vigorous vinyasa flow at least 5 times a week. It gets my body moving in time with my breath, increases circulation, and warms up muscles during those bitter NYC winter months. Not only does it keep off winter weight, it also beats the winter blues!
So, I could really use a pair of Beyond Yoga pants. Fingers crossed..

Aside from avoiding my Saturday summer ritual of consuming an entire Carvel ice cream cake, I make sure to stick to my 20-minute daily strength training routine, no matter how late I get home. I hate myself while I'm doing it, but I feel so proud and relieved once I'm done.

Winter weight? How about all seasons weight! I avoid such calamities by keeping to a routinue ... plus afew tricks. The best is I have my friends workout gear locked in my locker. If I don't show up, she can't work-out. Vice-versa, too. I don't want to dissappoint so I show up ... everyday.

Take up a winter sport such as alpine or cross country skiing- you'll be active on weekends and motivated to work out during the week to get in shape!

To avoid packing on extra weight during winter, I pull out the traditional Weight Watchers meal plans and fix healthy, balanced meals. Our summertime meals are much less structured, but we tend to get more exercise. In the winter, we usually get less exercise but we restore the balance by eating healthier meals.
Trish Sep 15th 2008 2:39PM
Oh, and medium yoga pants please! Thanks!
Louise Sep 15th 2008 2:48PM
I really try to nosh a bit b4 going to a party so I am not too tempted to overdo it. I try to back away from the booze, especially noggy, punchy-calorie laden drinks. If I overdo it on starchy things I try to add extra reps, or add some time to my walks.(If chosen, unfortunately, need a L please..)
J Young Sep 15th 2008 2:55PM
Why yoga of course. It helps me relax and motivates me to get out there and not let the cold months bring me down. Medium please.
