For today's estate of the day we are back in Malibu, California where real estate prices continue to rise. The LA Times Hot Property column alerted me to the Las Flores Beach property of cinematographer Newton T. "Tom" Sigel who has worked on films like Three Kings and The Usual Suspects. Sigel's got a prime spot right on the beach and the modern home has glass windows showcasing the view and leading out onto the wide deck.
But this four-bedroom home could really use the help of a stager. The crinkled leather couches, haphazard window treatments and rumpled beds don't help sell the luxury of the home. The ersatz home theater is more depressing than inviting. Also, as much as I love concrete as a modern building material it's almost too much here. It is listed at $7.995 million. Too much? Anything is possible in Malibu but I'm not sure this one is worth nearly $8 million even with that blockbuster view.
