Wife of Washington Lobbyist Uses Money as Wrapping Paper

When it comes to gifts usually it's what's on the inside that counts, but that's not necessarily the case for the gifts Edwina Rogers gives -- she wraps her presents in money. Uncut sheets of real, government-issued, dollar bills.
The wife of Washington lobbyist Ed Rogers gets the money sheets from the United States Bureau of Engraving (you can order them for yourself here) and then slices and dices as you would any wrapping paper to best fit the gift and get the best pattern on the front of the package (in this case it's lining up Washington's face just right). No matter that she regularly cuts several bills in half in the process, to be frugal she sticks to the dollar paper and only uses it to wrap "small" gifts.
A sheet of money paper consisting of 32 $1 bills sells for $55.

Ron, you said, "I think Obama may lose because he is a socialist who will ruin our economy, decimate our armed forces, destroy the best healthcare system in the world, and try to get everyone dependent on the federal government to increase the power that it has over their daily lives."
First of all, Bush (or if you'd prefer to be less specific, this current administration) has pretty much taken care of ruining our economy. I won't say how could it possibly get worse because I'm afraid that it could and very well may no matter who's in office.
Secondly, no ones trying to decimate the military, but we need to seriously get our priority's straight.
Thirdly, we do not have the best health care system in the world, not even close. It's only good if you are in perfect health, have money, and insurance (assuming of course that your in perfect health with no pre-existing conditions), if you don't your screwed.
And finally trying to get everyone dependent on the federal government is exactly what our current administration tried and for the most part succeeded in. How else do you explain Bush getting re-elected? Do you honestly believe that the majority of Americans would have supported our involvement in the Middle East or voted him (Bush) into a second term of office had this administration not played into our worst fears and patriotic pride?

It must be nice to throw money away like that it is those clowns who don't care about donating it where it is needed they just want to cut it up to be thrown away to someone who could give a rip about 32.00 of 1.00 bills. How sad our lobbyists are

Only in America....anyone with money and power can do or have anything they want in this country. It is sad....very very sad.

I'm amazed at this story. Amusing thing is that Govt. is itself selling Uncut $ bills and have law against cutting or defacing money :)
I may tell you that in indian media Obama is getting about 9 times more coverage than McCain. McCain is virtually unknown here.
In india we don't have lobbyist who openly can do so for some business . It means companies bribe/pay them for their own sake and affect govt's decision. Its very harmful for common people.
I'm very sad that US common people are suffering just like Indians 'coz we have US image in our minds as more free and rich society.

It's a cool idea, and it adds to the gift with a little extra money, but why not cement single dollars from the bank together with a little rubber cement (it will rub right off) and donate the extra $23 dollars to a needy charity. Buy a homeless person a nice dinner. Geez, a penny saved is a penny earned.

"Conspicuous Consumption" is something that I recall my first evidence of from the days of President Ray-Gun. Buy-Buy-Buy-consume-consume-consume-consume ... there are a few that do this consistently, almost as a model of some enviable activity, and before very long more and more people do the same thing ... not because it's affordable for them, but because of the image it presents. Fast Forward a little bit, and ... here we are, waiting for the sky to fall.
It's unfortunate that the label "American" seems to have adopted a corollary to its definition: "Stupid".
I think I have pernicious flatulence.
