Today is the latest in a long series of sports star homes lingering on the market. Denver Nuggets guard Allen Iverson has been looking to sell his home in Villanova, Pennsylvania for a year now. I first heard about it last year when the Wall Street Journal's Private Properties column first reported on it. Now a year later the same column reveals that Iverson has dropped the price on the 14,000 square foot home to a desperation price of $4 million. That's $1 million less than the former Philadelphia 76er and his wife Tawanna paid for it in 2003. The six-bedroom home is on four acres that include a pool house, stream and waterfall. The chateau-style home on Chateau Lane has four levels including a great room with floor-to-ceiling Palladian windows. The master suite has his and hers marble bathrooms, a coffee bar, media area and a veranda overlooking the grounds. There are four additional en-suite bedrooms and a separate guest quarters with a bedroom, living room and kitchenette. The entertainment level has a 12-seat movie theater, billiard room, and a lounge with a custom wood carved bar accommodating 200+ wine bottles. It is now listed at $3.999 million.

I actually like that old style movie theater. Just as long as the floor isn't sticky.

Hey, don't worry about the theater room... when the lights go down your watching the movie any why.... move that house to N. Cal and it would sell for double that price..... Lay back and relax, it will sell, give it another 2-3 years and you'll get your price....

I can relate to this, it is a very nice house, hopefully they won't have to wait four plus years like i am, and still counting, even though my house is only 6,012 sqr feet, on 15 acres in northern wisconsin. we lowered the price from 725k down to 385k and still unable to sell, you check it out and decide if it's asking too much? view @ www.cng-realty.com the house is located on 6033 east neuman road 54874.
anyways best of luck to everyone trying to sell their property. it can really be a pain. LOL!!!

Bob,
I don't live in Wisconsin so maybe things are different there.
Your house just seems outdated. The brass fixtures and oak cabinets everywhere. People don't want to spend that much and have to redo everything. I wish you the best of luck. Times are hard everywhere so I hope it sells.

Made the mistake of ghetto-ing up a house in a relatively conservative neighborhood. Also, tacky three story floor to ceiling windows and fake stucco are remnants of the 90's cheaply built McMansion look no one wants anymore.

Ghetto doesn't belong to the black community. The house is a McMansion. Nobody with class (money doesn't equal class) would want that fake crap. Great neighborhood and the home needs 500-750K in renovations. Not racist to say the truth. Stop looking for it...you just may find real racist out there.

If someone has millions to pay for housing; why wouldn't they build their own house just the way they wanted instead of buying someone elses white elephant?

So he had to lower his price by $1 million, who cares... it's not like he can't afford it. He makes hundreds of millions of dollars a year by just shooting a ball through a hoop, not to mention the millions that he gets in endorsements! Sports athletes are paid we to damn much, and often times they have more than 1 home. They should quit their bitching. I agree with William, if they can afford million dollar houses than why not build one to your liking and expectations?

Who is complaining? Who is bitching? The price is down 20% from original purchase price. That is called a fact not bitching. NOBODY IS OVER PAID. You get paid what the market determines. Maybe over paid for what he produces on the court verses someone else on the court but NOBODY can be over paid. The demand for his entertainment is their so he isn't over paid. At your job...you know, where you do administrative work...does everyone make the same amount for the same work? Nope. Pick a skill that pays a lot and stop complaining.

cheryl, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to figures. Iverson makes roughly $17 million a year salary from the Denver Nuggets, and has only two endorsement deals that pay him nearly $2 million a year.

Bob----regarding the sale of your home in WI:
Unfortunately your home is "overly personalized" to your suit your personal taste and not the taste of 99% of buyers. The exterior lacks curb appeal and the interior is very dated. I would strongly suggest spending about 20K (or whatever it takes) to change out all the flooring, and countertops, light fixtures, and add a warm color to the walls throughout......or this one may never sell. Take it off the market, make updates, and re-list it at a realistic price for your area, and it should sell. I can't believe your realtor didn't suggest this before you ever listed it. Best of luck to you! I'm a realtor with 20+ years experience.

Gosh it looks so cheesey and pre-fab. I don't even think it is worth the reduced price.
