Edge Wood, Estate of the Day

I wondered back in 2006, when I first saw today's estate listed, if it was a bit overpriced. It turns out I may have been right, it has gone through a major price reduction since then. Luxist reader Ryan reminded me of Edge Wood in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It is a large six bedroom home which was built in 2002 and sits on the waterfront. It has two docks, three boat lifts and a sandy beach. The compound is over three acres and has more than 21,000 total square feet of space including a large guest house. The home includes details such as a billiards room with a bar, a large art studio and a master suite with a wet bar. It is listed at $16 million, which is less than two-thirds the price it was two years ago when it was listed at $24.5 million.

Is that pink Thunderbird a Mary Kay car?
Taken as a whole it looks like the owner won the lottery and bought a whole bunch of mismatched stuff. Butler tables, Alligators in Virginia, Harp etc all look tacky. With that said, the underground car park/bat cave basement is almost worth the cost of admission.

Mary Kay does not offer Thunderbirds in their reward program, plus it is not the signature MK pink which the company owns.
With that said I agree with Henry for I think the decor of this house is down right tacky!

How DARE they put goldfish in that wonderful aquarium!
I like the beach area, that's pretty cool. Don't care for the black columns, and the kitchen layout is kinda weird.
Certainly looks to be New Money. Lottery, Athlete, Entertainer.

I rarely like houses of this size, but this one is amazing (amazingly built, not decorated).

Looks like the whole place was built off the shelf from Home Depot stock part.
All in all not bad for a Days Inn or Red Roof Inn.

The house looks like it's never been lived in. The black/white tile flooring in the kitchen, plus wood trim at the windows a must go!
