The prices for vintage Bugattis are just astounding. Last month we saw a 1937 Bugatti go for $7.9 million at Pebble Beach, now Forbes says the 1930 Bugatti Type 41 Royale Kellner Coach is for sale for a jaw-dropping estimated $10 million asking price. The Bugatti Type 41 Royale is important in automobile history because of its massive eight cylinder engine. In the 1920s, Ettore Bugatti was banking on a military contract to build 16-cylinder aircraft engines when he didn't get it he decided to use half the engine in cars. The Type 41 Royale has the largest engine of any car to be sold privately and is pretty imposing all around. Unfortunately 1930 was not a great time to be selling luxury cars. just six Royales were made. This one was never sold and stayed with the Bugatti family until 1950. The car went through a couple of collectors before being sold for a record £5.5 million at London's Royal Albert Hall. Now the current owner has asked Bonham & Brooks in London to see if anyone is game to pay the $10 million for the car.

At the current exchange rate of 1.76 dollars per pound, the price that the car was purchased for (5.5 million pounds) would be the equivalent of 9.68 million dollars. Doesn't sound like the seller is making much of a profit selling the car for $10 million. Recently the exchange rate was two to one, so the car would have cost the equivalent of $11 million.

John, I know that .32 million doesn't SOUND like much . . . but somehow, I still don't think this guy is scrambling to make the rent!

Maybe he is. That's the only reason I'd sell it.

At the current rate, this and that, do you even have 1% of 10 Million? Probably not so all those fancy words just means your a smart broke a** dude who has no life and blogs online all day. Me? I work overseas and I was checking my email and thought it was interesting to see a 10 Million dollar car, so I checked it out...and you murdered it...good going.
Tip of the day: Get a LIFE.
p.s. I have more than 1% in the bank...

all this talk about "most expensive car" is funny....the TOP 3 Deusenbergs ever made..presidential limos, with bullet-proof glass (which august came up with) are all "priceless". one is owned by the vatican as the original pope-mobile, the car owned by the Dule of Windsor and the third was augusts personal car. these are the only three known to exist, cause at the time, deusenberg was allowed to make cars for "people of political interest" without a paper trail. all of the original "presidential" limos are worth upward of $40mil...with the original pope-mobile being described as "priceless"

Hmm. 10 mil for a 70+ year old car that one would have to have custom made parts for. The road insurance - if one ever wanted to actually drive it that is - would be astronomical in price.
I can't see myself dropping 10 mil just on something that's going to sit around most of the time. But, then again, cars don't really hold any value for me. It's amazing what people will spend their money on though.

One would have to own a garage in which to display an investment like this.
