La-Z-Boy Updates Their Handle

Even the classic La-Z-Boy recliner has gotten a touch of modern fever. The company has introduced a new version of the blocky wooden handle used to drop tired bodies into instant relax mode. The new handle is called the Arc and has a sleeker design with a brushed metal finish. The new handle option is available for any La-Z-Boy motion furniture with a handle. It probably won't change most people's view of the furniture brand associated most with American sloth at its finest but it is a definitely an upgrade over the old handle.

Why new handle? The old handle worked just fine. Instead of fixing something that isn't broken why don't you continue to stock parts for chairs that are 10 or 15 years old? Your lifetime warranty doesn't mean much if you no longer stock replacement parts does it?

I had a 63 Rambler American. Considering my now
Saturn, it wasn't such a Bad Car... It got good gas milieage too...
Why they put my car's handle on your lazy boy recliner, however, most probably had something to do with an overage at a china factory, for a failed company, making some Widgetts... Lazy Boy probably paid .5 cents each for them...
Wahdayamean??? Life Time Guarantee??? Betya they never replaced one chair since Fred Flintstone bought his!!! Yaba Daba Doo!!! They call that profit in Coperate Americia

I had to get rid of my lazboy..requested parts two times and could never get the parts to work...parts list did not match my chair....chair was only five years old

Looks like the door handle from a '62 Rambler. This is modern?
keith Sep 6th 2008 8:54PM
Danyankee, That's the funniest thing I've heard today. Not many people will know what a door handle from a Rambler ( Nash ) looks like. good post.

It's ugly. Looks like a car door handle...
tom sheridan Sep 6th 2008 8:53PM
they should make a chair/toilet bowl combo: I WOULD CALL IT "THE LAZY BOWL" ROTF LMAO!!
JACK Sep 6th 2008 8:56PM
Looks like something the wife is gonna get me with when I fall asleep!

I think the new handle is fine but, my comment is , how about having one on each side as I just broke my right arm and cannot recline for awhile which makes it very hard for me as I was told to sleep in the chair for at least 3 0r 4 months. Not so funny
john Sep 6th 2008 9:11PM
it looks similiar to my wifes viberator / it has a slight curve/i hope she does not get it mixed up
Ryan Sep 6th 2008 9:32PM
Why the hell is this a story?
Rosemarie Sep 6th 2008 9:43PM
'cause we are all sick of hearing about the election!!!
Poot Sep 6th 2008 10:10PM
Whoa! What news this is and I can't believe Fox didn't break it first! I can see a Rambler door handle but I also see an overgrown toilet handle. Maybe money would've been better invested to improve the CHAIR instead of the HANDLE? Duh. "Yeah Bubba I know. My butt hit the flo when the seat springs broke but damn, don't that thar handle look good!"

Not made in America - great Chinese handle.
Lazyboy is junk and they do not honor the
warranty - labor is not covered
mary0124 Sep 6th 2008 10:57PM
La-z-boy isn't junk..we have 3 of them for over 15 years. They do charge for labor..but we only had to use
it once when my daughter (teenager) and I both got
on fooling around (it was already old) and they fixed it.
Still using all in good condition. We had a Lane that was not at all as good. And harder to move..La-Z-Boys come apart to move.
Greg Roberts Sep 7th 2008 2:22AM
My brother just took deleivery of a new lazy boy. Came apart first sitting so he compared the innards to his old chair. Not as well made as they used to be.

Forget about the handle. I waited 8 months for 2 $1500. leather recliners because they had a problem getting the leather (at least that what I was told).
Did you know that the leather is sewn together in China?
Anyhow, there are 3 different textures of leather sewn together (or maybe it's part cat?)....Trying to get it rectified...before I contact an attorney.

La-z-boy is JUNK. About 4 years ago, we bought a recliner from them. About 4 months later there was a problem with it and after talking to the store, we waited for service. After 3 attemps to get the problem resolved, I took the chair to the store and dropped it off. I was told to pick it up that afternoon. When I went back to get it, I was told that the serviceman didn't show. They said I would be contacted. It didn't happen. When I complained, The manager said he would call me.
He didn't call. This happened at North Canton, Ohio. I wouldn't buy a La-z-boy ever again. I have had good succes with the furniture store in Sugarcreek, Ohio. I better not name names.

I already tried their overated junk furniture. I tried to negotiate anything to offset my $4000.00 investment. I was advised to live with it. Probably the only thing good was the handle. My wife and I gave the furniture to our adult children, they also comment on poor quality-- YOUR BAD LAZY BOY a total of five families will not purchase your junk.
