Vanity Fair Celebrates Supermodel Comeback
Last month we reported that top fashion brands were once again bringing back the supermodels of the 1990s to star in new fall ad campaigns for the likes of Prada, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton.Vanity Fair has now picked up on the trend, with an eight page story in the new September issue and a photo shoot by Mario Testino (right) featuring Cindy Crawford, Stephanie Seymour, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell.
Though they're all obviously in great shape, Testino somehow makes Seymour look as if she's made entirely of plastic, while the gorgeous Schiffer looks more like a hausfrau than a supermodel. Perhaps the lighting and make-up is to blame. The shoot was originally rumored to be for the magazine's cover, but we can see why they went with Carla Bruni instead.

What I found interesting in this months Vanity Fair was the Carla Bruni story, and Karl Lagerfeld saying that Carla was always a great model to work with, whereas Linda and Christy could sometimes be 'nasty and mean' (or something like that, I paraphrase). Love the story on Carla, all the drama all the affairs.

HAUSFRAU??? How can you say that ANY ONE of these gorgeous women look anything like a "hausfrau"?? They are gorgeous! It's comments like this that lead our younger ladies to body image problems, anorexia, etc. WHY?????

Show some nude women...in the magazine...for better magazine sales...But don't show any very skinny babes which the public will get very SICK on looking at them...

Looks plastic? Hausfrau? These are STILL beautiful and vivacious women who were never part of the "waif" look. Carla Bruni is a glorified groupie. That whole piece was done by a supreme jackass.

Open your eyes and your mind. They are all beautiful. People create controversy over everything. What is fine they twist into discord. But not all beautiful women are like Miley Cyrus, Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears. They aren't all Discordian American Princesses.

PS, so the comments above love the pictures of nude women? I thought the only read the womens mags for the "articles?"....oh, no, lapse of memory, that was the rag on men for Playboy 30 years ago, right.

Skinny, bony models from another time. They're pretty enough but that's all. I prefer my women on the natural side and little bit of plump is more sexy that these stick figures.

Didn't Carla Bruni break up someone's marriage? Of course, put a ho on the cover. That cover was almost as bad as a few years ago when VF did a piece on "Trump Family Values" right after he dumped his wife for another blond ho. No wonder today's kids are screwed up.
