If you were one of millions this weekend you waited in line, paid for your tickets, waited in line again, and watched
The Dark Knight with Christian Bale and Heath Ledger this weekend. Sure the gadgets and action were outrageously cool but did you see that smoking hot leather jacket on Bruce Wayne? The
Belstaff leather blouson jacket which retails for $1,250 has already been ogled and
presold to 6,000 wanna-be-Batmans but you can find yours today at Barneys. Don't think the ladies will mind if you aren't the only one wearing it -- this jacket is hot!

Oh yes, just what I want to spend $1,250 on, a jacket that at least 6000 other people will be wearing this year. What a unique look that will be.
I thought our country was near to being in a recession. I wonder how many of the 6000 have foreclosed on a home this year? I also how many are getting near to foreclosing and are expecting the government to bail them out, only to turn around and spend that much money on a fugly jacket?
No thanks, I'll stick to paying my mortgage on time and skip the overly sold, overly worn clothing.

No offense "Opinion", but if you're so cynical about the luxury goods market then why exactly are you reading Luxist?

Thats a decent price for a good leather. Let the other guy by his shit at target and leave the rest to us.

It would be nice if the jacket was actually interesting. However, it's not. I can think of plenty of other leather jackets that I've seen, in the $1200 price range, that would put this thing to shame. Also, I've seen many other leather jackets, that cost far less than this one, that are nicer looking.
As with most luxury items, and movie tie-in products, one is paying through the nose for the branding on this jacket. And, not any real advantages in terms of style, materials and quality.

One thing to keep in mind when judging this jacket's price: This is a motorcycle jacket. As such it is made a little differently than your run of the mill fashionable leather piece. In the event of a fall off a motorcycle, the jacket is made to hold up and take the abrasion (instead of your skin) while you are grinding along the asphalt at 65 MPH.
That being said, there are quite a few other manufacturers that produce quality leather gear for far less money - and look quite a bit better.
