S. Stein Workbags, Handbags of the Day

Sherry Stein originally starting designing custom workbags for herself and her family members because they each needed to lug very specific equipment around (she herself was an Industrial Designer and her two sisters were each a photographer and a fashion designer) and they wanted to do it in style. Inspired by the functional and utilitarian bags found in hardware and Army surplus stores, she uses natural materials in her designs so that as they get used, aged, and weathered they build character and become even more appealing. In her words her bags are "designed for working, living, and going 'for the long haul.'" $270-$380
